The sun shone across the valley and Misty and Sierra went to go hunt and see what they could eat for breakfast. Misty and Sierra are two mountain cats. But they’re not normal, they both have a mark that represents their last name and due to that they have special abilities. Misty’s last name is Rains, she can declare the weather. She can tell if it’s going to rain, thunder, cloudy, or sunny. Sierra’s last name is Mountains, she can see through mountains and she can see trails on the mountains nearby and far away.
Misty asked, “Sierra, can you see if there’s a way up the mountain?” Sierra scanned the mountain up and
down. She nodded. “But, it’s a long way to get to the path. We have to pass through the houses of humans.” Sierra responded. Misty hissed at the mention of humans. Sierra didn’t mind humans, but Misty hated them. When she was born her mom ignored her. As she got older the humans just abandoned her. She’ll never forgive them. Or her mom.
Just then Sierra spotted a rabbit and a hare hopping side by side. Sierra is going to chase the hare while Misty is going to chase the rabbit. Just within minutes, they both went to their hideaway cave and had breakfast. Misty went out to get some fresh air because
the cave was damp. Then she sensed it was going to rain. She told Sierra. They both went out to hunt and get food. Since it was almost winter, when the rain comes, all the animals hide so they stay warm. Once they saw the rain clouds they headed back for their cave. Luckily, they caught enough food before the rain came. The rain can last for days in the valley but since they ate breakfast not too long ago they’ll be fine for the next couple of hours.
While in the cave, Misty checked the weather. “The atmosphere is cold. It might snow.” Misty said to Sierra. Sierra looked concerned for her. After a while, they decided to share one of their prey that they caught. As they ate it started to snow. Sierra looked sad. Misty was
wondering why she was sad. “Don’t you like the snow, Sierra?” Misty asked. Sierra just went to the back of the cave. Misty was so confused. She wondered if she was planning to meet someone, a forest animal, a cat, or humans! The thoughts of humans just made her angry but she managed to keep her temper down.
Sierra was going to meet a cat named Jackson. He was a part of some moor cat’s clan. They met when they both were hunting. But due to the snow, they couldn’t meet. Sierra was just saddened by the moment of thinking about him. Misty decided to give Sierra some time alone.
After 2 days the snow stopped and Sierra ran out of the cave while Misty was asleep. Hoping that she’ll see Jackson at the tree that they first met at. When she got to the tree Jackson was there! He was waiting underneath it. “Hi Jackson!” Sierra Shouted. Jackson turned his attention to Sierra. He asked, “Why did you want to meet here?” She replied, “I wanted to talk to you. I haven’t seen you for a month!” They chatted under the tree for about an hour. When Misty woke up she frantically searched for Sierra. But she couldn't find her.
Misty calmed down and picked up her scent. Misty followed Sierra’s scent. Misty saw Sierra talking to
Jackson under a tree. Misty realized who it was and started running towards Jackson and Sierra. “Sierra, Jackson!” She yelled. She ran up to Jackson and snuggled against him. Jackson didn’t remember Misty ever since she was abandoned. Jackson brushed off Misty and said, “You weirdo! Why are you doing that to me? I don’t even know you!” Misty’s eyes were filled with shock and sadness. She was surprised that Jackson didn’t remember her. Sierra padded over to Misty and pointed her toward Jackson letting Misty know that she’ll talk to him.
Sierra talked to Jackson saying that Misty is her
friend and that he was rude to her. Sierra also mentioned Misty’s background. Jackson's eyes widened. He asked, “That’s my sister?” Sierra was confused. Then she realized why Misty knew his name. Sierra nodded her head, yes. Jackson peered over to Sierra’s shoulder to look at Misty. He saw how sad Misty looked. Then decided he would comfort his sister. He walked up to Misty and sat down beside her, and quietly said, “Sorry Misty. I didn’t realize it was you.” Misty ignored him. They sat underneath the tree for a while. Then they heard voices. Jackson recognized the voices. He sprung up trying to see where his denmates were.
One of the voices said, “I am picking up 2 other cats’
Jackson said, “I'll confront my friends and you two, try to go back to your home.” Sierra and Misty nodded. Jackson went to say hi to his friends while Misty and Sierra snuck back to their home. One of Jcakson’s friends, Marsh Fire said, “We picked up two cat scents near you. Did you see any cats?” Jackson shook his head no with a nervous face. His other friend, Wild Blossom, said, “But their scents are all over you. You’re lying.” Then they followed the scents of Misty and Sierra.
Jackson tried to stop them but it didn’t work. Then they reached Misty’s and Sierra’s cave they entered without asking. They saw Misty and Sierra, with their
backs toward them Wild Blossom and Marsh Fire looked at eachother like they were going to attack them. Jackson said, “Hi!” preventing Misty and Sierra getting attacked. Sierra and Misty turned around. Misty hissed, “Jackson, who are these other cats!?!?!” Jackson could tell that Misty was furious with him. Jackson replied, shaken because his denmates were there, “Uhhhhhh…… these are my friends.” His denamate, Wild Blossom hissed back, “How do you know Jackson Eagle!?!?!” “Jackson is my brother!” She yowled. Then she asked, “Jackson Eagle?”. Marsh Fire replied calmly, “Yes, Jackson Eagle. That’s his name. But why are you calling him Jackson?”.
Sierra said, “That’s what the humans called him. His name was Jackson. But why did you add, Eagle?”. They both replied, “Our clan, every cat has a first and last name based on, looks, and skills. Jackson Eagle has eyes like an Eagle.”. Jackson interrupted saying, “Wild Blossom, Marsh Fire, this is my sister Misty and her friend Sierra. They both live in the cave.” Wild Blossom noticed both of their marks and asked, “What are those markings on you?” Sierra and Misty stayed quiet because they knew what would happen if they told what they can do and what those markings mean. Marsh Fire announced, “Come with us. We’ll take you to our home. But if you don’t tell us soon what those markings mean
then we’ll have to exclude you from our home, including the valley.” Sierra and Misty understood and nodded. Misty and Jackson were walking next to each other.
Wild Blossom didn’t like that Misty was getting too comfortable with her crush. Wild Blossom thought that Misty and Jackson were lying that they're siblings just so that she and her friend wouldn’t be attacked. When they reached the camp the cats gave Misty and Sierra looks of disgust because of their markings. Wild Blossom and Marsh Fire took Misty and Sierra to see their leader, Starry Sky. Starry was a kind leader but she was extra cautious around “rouges”.
Misty tried to introduce herself and Sierra but Starry Sky shushed her. Starry Sky asked them if she could talk with them in private. They both agreed. Starry Sky asked, “Are you guys like me?” They didn’t understand. But Then Starry Sky showed her mark. It was on her chest. It was the Northern Stars. Sierra quickly replied, “Yes. We are. My name is Sierra Mountains and my friend’s name is Misty Rains. We are mountain cats that are just like you.” Starry Sky knew they would be helpful. So she let them join the clan keeping their names. Starry Sky announced that they’ll be staying with them. Everyone was with shock except Jackson, he was excited his sister was going to be
staying. Starry let Misty and Sierra stay with her in her den.
The next morning Misty went out to check the weather while Sierra was asking Starry, “What is your power?” Starry replied, “I can see every single star. Even the ones you can’t see with your eyes. I can point out constellations. That’s how I lead my cats here. Just then before Sierra got a chance to explain her power Misty came back in and said, “It’s going to rain later today.” Starry nodded her head and turned her attention back to Sierra. Sierra said, “I can see trails on a mountain. I can see mountains that are also miles away. I also can see
through the mountains to see where the trail on the mountain starts.” Starry found both of their powers useful to help them survive the winter.
All the other cats become more friendly with Misty and Sierra. The kits, Emerald Eyes:(Girl, Gray with emerald eyes.), Cherry Birch:(Girl, Light ginger and black reddish-brown eyes.), Gray Cloud:(Boy, Gray, Dark gray, and white with Grayish black eyes.), and Star Stripe:(Boy, Black and white with yellow eyes.),they all got along with Sierra. Misty was a little harsh on them. Jackson and Misty always went on hunting sprees. Sometimes they would go with Lightning Wind. Lightning Wind is a really fast cat. He can run as fast as a cheetah, that’s why his
nickname is Cheetah. Cheetah was really quiet for a fast runner. Sierra would watch over the kits and sometimes help the other cats fix their dens. Misty and Sierra were happy with their new home.
Chapter 2
The Beginning
Winter was coming close so Lightning, Jackson, and Misty would go after any prey they saw. One time they saw an eagle flying close to the ground. Misty went chasing after it and caught it. Lightning and Jackson were shocked because eagles are predators to cats. Jackson and Lightning were in shock, their eyes wide and jaws dropped. “Are you guys going to stare or are going back?” Misty asked.
As they headed for camp the sky turned dark gray as if it were thunder. Misty dropped her prey and tasted the air. “There’s a storm coming.” Misty said, “We have to go now, it’s going to start within the next hour.” She picked up the prey she caught and they started heading for camp.
Sierra saw them as the kits were playing with her. She tried to stand up to ask Misty what the weather was going to be today, but the kits stopped her from standing up. She loved the kits but sometimes she wished that she didn't always have to watch the kits. Misty calmed the kits and said, “Can you guys go back to your dens so Sierra can get a break?” The kits went back
It started to rain and Misty and Jakson were in the cave with a couple other cats. It wasn’t crowded at all. Starry and Sierra were asleep. The kits tried to play with her. Then the kits went to Misty and Jacskon pulled them to sit with them. The parents thought it was cute. The cats that weren’t in the cave were Wild Blossom, Marsh Fire, Squirrel Target, Snakes Hiss, Tree Bark, Fox Heart, Sunset Flower, and Drop Mist.
30 minutes after the storm started it started to snow. Sierra went down to alert the other cats so they wouldn’t be snowed in. The cats saw the snow and decided to follow her. By the time they got to the
mountain, the path was covered with snow. Sierra looked at it and saw the path beneath the snow up to the cave. They slowly made their way up the mountain. When they got there their coats were covered in snow and shivering. Sierra cuddled close to Starry.
Everyone was asleep except for Blossom, she thought that Misty was trying to make her jealous. She didn’t like the fact that Jackson was hanging out, and cuddling with Misty. She just wanted to get rid of Sierra and Misty but she couldn’t because she has nowhere else to go. Marsh woke up, and saw Blossom glaring at Misty and Jackson with the kits.
Marsh trotted quietly to Blossom and comforted her. They eventually fell asleep. When they woke up it was still snowing but not as hard as it was last night. They all decided that two cats will share prey so that they can save prey for the next couple of days.
The snow storm eventually cleared up. They stayed in the cave for one more day so that the snow could melt from the sun. The snow did melt but there was still some. Starry announced, “The winter is coming sooner than we thought. Soon our home won't be safe. We have to travel somewhere big and warm enough for us to survive the winter.” Misty and Sierra knew a place.
Chapter 3
The History
Misty and Sierra lead the clan of cats to their cave. It was roomy, and warm. They closed the entrance with rocks to where they can go out and in. But one at a time. While the sun was shining, Misty, Jackson, and Lightning went hunting.
All the kits ran up to Sierra and asked her questions like, “How did you know about this place?” “Are you and
Misty rouges?” “Did you live here?” Before Sierra could answer the kits’ parents called them over so they would stop bothering Sierra.
Blossom walked up to Sierra and asked, “How long have you known Misty?” “I’ve known Misty ever since I ran into her after she was abandoned.” Sierra replied. “Since she was abandoned?” Blossom questioned. Sierra mewed, “Yeah! Her owners didn’t like that she was getting older. They wanted only young cats. She was only 2 years old when they abandoned her.” Blossom felt bad for Misty, she knew what it is like to be abandoned; then she said, “Okay.”
The Backgrounds
You guys know some of Mistys’ background but you don’t know the whole story. Also you’ll learn about the other cats in this story.
Misty was born on October 19, 2018. Misty is a gray and white cat with light blue eyes. She was the first born of her littler. She has 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Sadly, her mother didn’t care for her after she was big enough to care for herself. The youngest of the family, Jackson, was the only one who paid attention to his big sister.
When Misty was 1 year old, she started growing her mark. It is located on her left shoulder. It is a rain cloud with a lightning bolt and droplets on it. When she became 2 her owners abandoned her. The reason is that they saw her mark and thought that she was an alien. Jackson and her siblings didn’t remember that because her mom was too busy caring for her younger siblings.
Her siblings are, Cherry: (Girl, Black and brown with emerald eyes.), Dewpelt: (Boy, Gray with grayish blue eyes.), Spruce: (Girl, Brown with black stripes and light brown eyes.), Wild: (Girl, Light brown and white with purple-pink eyes.), Marsh: (Boy, dark and light brown
with dark green eyes.), and Jackson: (Boy, Black, gray, and white with yellow eyes.).
She ran into Sierra as she ran away from where owners left her.
Sierra’s story
Sierra was born on March 12, 2019. Sierra is gray with ginger and brown eyes. She was the youngest of the litter. She has 5 siblings, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Her clan took care of her and her siblings while their mom and dad were out hunting.
As she got older her mark started to appear. It was on her left hind leg. It was a mountain range with a sunrise and a trail on the mountains. Her clan and parents saw the mark and everyone thought it meant bad luck. When she was 2 years old her parents died due to a harsh winter storm. Everyone blamed her for the incident. Later on that year 2 of her siblings died. All the cats blamed her again but she decided to run away. Her brother, Pine Frost, the oldest, was the only one that didn’t leave her.
They lived in the cave together. Sadly a couple months before she met Misty her brother passed away.
She fought back tears and buried him next to a tree so that he would be shaded if it was raining or super hot.
Her siblings are, Pine Frost: (Boy, Dark and light brown with icy almost white eyes.), Water Mist: (Girl, silver and white with icy blue eyes.), Sweet snow: (Girl, White with ginger and brown eyes.), Ginger sky: (Boy, Ginger and gray with grayish brown eyes.), White Falls: (Boy, White with tint of gray and icy almost white eyes.)
Sierra was the only one that didn’t have a last name. When she saw Misty’s mark she asked Misty why she was running and Misty explained. Sierra told Misty to live with her so that she has company. They have been
friends ever since that day.
Jackson’s(Jackson Eagle) story
Jacskon is the youngest of his family. You know his siblings but you don’t know their parents. Their mother: (Gray and white, with blue/lavender eyes. Name: Stone) Their Father: (Brown, light brown, and black with brown-green eyes. Name: Forest.).
When Jackson was born he was the most loved one. His parents called him the purrfect kit. Jackson clinged to his mother 24/7. Jackson would cling to Misty when they
were both 1. Their mom would call him back if he would even take a step to her. Her parents knew what the
mark meant, they didn’t like that she had it, they both thought that Wild or Jackson should have it.
When the owners left her out on the streets Jackson kept asking his parents where Misty was. His mom said she ran away so don’t be like her. So he thought that the reason they didn’t want him near Misy was because she was a bad influence. A couple months after Misty was abandoned, a couple months before they turned 3 the owners were moving. They were going to give them away.
They didn’t want to be separated. Their mom and dad both yowled and scratched at the owners, the owners thought that they were crazy and always going to act like that so they took them to the pound and they both got euthanized.
Cherry, Dewpelt, and Spruce got adopted. But Wild, Marsh and Jackson ran away. They were sticking together but then Jackson got lost. A cat named Starry found him, and took him in. A year later Wild and Marsh found them. But they didn't recognize each other.
Wild’s (Wild Blossom) Story
Wild would get half of the attention Jackson and Marsh did. Their parents found her purple- pinkish eyes beautiful. Her nickname would be Blossom. Her parents would play with her, Marsh and Jackson. Dewpelt would always encourage to do things she was nervous to do.
Wild loved Dewpelt. She thought that Misty didn't care for her but Misty wasn’t allowed to look at her siblings after her mark was developed. When Misty was abandoned Her mom was smothering her. Wild didn't like that and brushed her mom off. For the first time in
her life, her mom hissed at her. She got scared and ran to Dewpelt.
Dewpelt was confused about what was happening. He asked his mom and she explained that she brushed her off. Dewplet said maybe she doesn’t want to be smothered all the time or maybe not at all like Misty. Her mom hiss at him saying we don’t talk about your sister. They both nervously nodded their heads.
When they ran away Blossom and Marsh lost Jackson but they didn’t know where he was. So they went on. They found a cave and stayed there for a couple of months. They both taught each other to hunt.
They went walking through an open area when they ran into Starry Sky. She offered them to live with her. They accepted it.
Marsh’s (Marsh Fire) Story
Marsh was always smothered by his mother. He was always the first one to do something dangerous. His mom and dad almost saw him fall off the cat tower but luckily Cherry saved him. His mom and dad saw that they needed to keep him close so that he won’t get into any danger.
When he, Wild, and Jackson ran away he was the one that gave the idea. When he and Wild were staying in the cave he was the first one to try and hunt. He caught a hare, baby bird, and a bunny.
Starry’s (Starry Sky) Story
Starry was born on December 25, 2015. Starry is Black and white with purple-blue eyes. She was born with her kind. She had 3 siblings, all brothers. She was the only girl out of her litter. She was also the youngest. Normally all her siblings would have marks but she was the only one.
Her siblings are, Pine:(Brown and black with emerald eyes.), Rocky:(Gray and white with grayish blue eyes.), and Fog:(Grayish white with icy blue eyes.).
Every cat thought that her mom borned ctas that were curses; Even Starry. A month after they were born her mom died. Her clan killed her mother because they thought her children were going to mess up the generation.
When she was 1 she heard that her clan was going to get rid of her and her siblings. Her brothers were mostly care free except her oldest brother Pine. When they heard that, he told Starry to run. She had a whole
life ahead since she was the only one with the marking.
She didn’t want to leave Pine though. A day after she and Pine ran away. That day they were going to die. Luckily they did it just in time; but the elders were mad that they ran away. That day they ran and saw an open area with a little mountain with a cave. They saw that as a nice place to call home.
They accepted cats from all over. Their clan grew. One day Pine and two clan members went hunting but Pine went on his own saying that he'll be back. An hour later he was n’t back; they got worried. The two membe-
rs went hunting but Pine went on his own saying that he'll be back. An hour later he was n’t back; they got worried. The two members saw blood in where Pine went. It was his blood. They assumed that he got attacked. But they didn’t go explore just in case the thing was still there.
Starry was saddened, in memories of Pine they gathered all his favorite things and buried it by a pine tree. Starry sometimes looks up at the sky at the thought of her brother.
Chapter 4
The Storm
Blossom just watched Misty and Jackson for a couple days. Then she started to sense there was danger. That morning Misty tasted the air, before she could say anything Blossom shouted, “Storm! There's going to be a snow storm!” Everyone was astonished, but everyone understood that Blossom was telling the truth because the air was getting colder. Winter was super close. Misty said, “We have only a couple hours left before it hits, I want everyone to start making sure we have enough
food while me, Jackson, and Lightning hunt.”. “I want to come too!” Marsh shouted. Misty agreed.
While they were hunting, Sierra made sure the kits stayed away from the parents so the adult can make sure everything is safe without the kits venturing off. “Sierra is everything going to be okway?” Cherry Birch mewed. Sierra replied, “If we have enough food we should be.” She said that very calmly but she was very nervous. Not because of the storm, because she hoped that Marsh, Jackson, Lightning, and Misty didn’t go too far.
Starry noticed that Sierra was nervous and joined her and the kits. Everytime Sierra was by Starry, she felt
loved. Couple minutes before the snowstorm hit Marsh, Lightning, Misty, and Jackson brought food that would last them a couple of months. Right before it hit the strongest cats, Sierra, Moonstone Hills, Oak Bark, and Marsh Fire helped push a big boulder in front of the gap that they could go in and out of so that the snow wouldn’t go in or the cold air.
The cave was dark, no one could see. But, Sierra and Misty remembered where they put their light stash just for winters. They grabbed it and hung it across the cave walls. Just within a second the incandescent lights lit up the whole cave. Everyone could see. Everyone is happy in the cave. A couple hours after the snowstorm
started Blossom walked up to Misty. “Whatever you want I’m not going to do.” Misty said, annoyed. Blossom knew Misty didn't like her. After that everyone ate. They had to make sure they ate enough so that they had leftovers for the entire storm. A snowstorm can last 1 month -3 months.
No one knew if it was night or day while in the cave. But everyone got sleepy. Sierra and Starry slept next to each other with the kits. Misty noticed that Sierra and Starry were fond of each other. Misty and Jackson fell asleep next to each other. Before Blossom fell asleep she took a glance at Misty; Marsh always noticed that she was looking at Misty. He didn’t know what was going on
so he just left it alone. Soon everyone was asleep.
Chapter 5
In The Middle
The next morning everyone woke up. Sierra was taking care of the kits, while the other cats got up from their sleep. When they did they could hear the winds howling from the storm outside. Starry slowly made her way to where they stored their food. They had enough for another month. Everyone kept asking questions about the storm.
Sierra had a great sense of hearing. She could hear some parents talking about her, Misty, and Starry; mostly about Starry though. Every cat was questioning why she let Misty, and Sierra into their clan. Sierra told Starry, “Every cat is questioning you.” Starry replied, “It’s too soon to tell them.” Sierra understood and went to play with the kits.
Some of the parents steered into accusations. Most of them thought they threatened Starry. Others thought Misty and Sierra somehow mesmerized Starry. Though none of that was true. It was about 2 o’ clock, and they could hear the winds of the snowstorm howling.
