The Wawel Dragon - creating a cave under the Wawel Hill - was supposed to terrorize the inhabitants of the city of Krakow. They had to make a beast of cattle sacrifices. None of the knights managed to go - but the shoemaker Skuba helped him. He stuffed the ram with brimstone and gave it to the dragon. He ate a lamb and fell into a trap set by Skuba. The sulfur was causing him great pain. To quench his thirst, he drank the Vistula water until he burst. Everyone was happy, and the heroic shoemaker was handsomely rewarded. The sculpture moved over the river at the foot of the Wawel Castle, at the entrance to the Dragon's Den, reminding about defeating the dragon.
