 A beautiful spring evening in May, as Enver was watching the play of his favorite football team, he remembers that he has to go to school tomorrow so he goes to bed in order to wake up early. (Mayıs ayının güzel bir bahar akşamı, Enver heyecanlı bir şekilde tuttuğu  takımın maçını izlerken, yarın okulunun olduğunu hatırlar ve geç kalmamak için  yatağına uyumaya gitti.)

  The next day after washing his face and getting prepared for the school, he got on his way there. He really liked walking because it let him to be with his own thoughts and that was relaxing to him. (Ertesi gün, Elini yüzünü yıkayıp, okul için hazırlığını yaptıktan sonra yola  koyuldu. Yürümeyi çok seviyordu çünkü yürüdüğü zaman kendiyle baş başa kalıp  düşüncelere dalıyor ve bu onu rahatlatıyordu. Biraz yürüdükten sonra okula  vardı ve din öğretmeni Zeynep Hanımdan özür dileyerek yerine geçip dersi  dinlemeye başladı.)

Alright guys our topic for today is ‘the relation between philosophy and religion' what do you know about this topic?” Enver couldn't answer the question because he thought philosophy was nonsensical and hard to understand. He asked his teacher “Teacher what does philosophy has to do with religion?” His teacher replied “Enver, religion is something we believe by our hearts and acknowledge with our minds and philosophy provides the acknowledgment by the mind. ( - Evet çocuklar bugünkü konumuz din ve felsefe ilişkisi bu konu hakkında neler biliyorsunuz? Enver hocasının bu sorusuna cevap vermedi çünkü felsefeyi saçma ve karmaşık buluyordu hocasına; -Hocam felsefe ile dinin ne alakası var diye sordu. Hocası; -Enverciğim din kalbimizle inandığımız lakin aklımızla desteklediğimiz bir kavramdır. Bu bağlamda felsefe buradaki akıl ihtiyacını karşılar.)

     Enver was surprised upon the answer due to his preconceptions. He was still complaining about confusion that philosophy creates for him. The class ended and Miss Zeynep left the class thanking the students. Enver who loves chatting very much found himself chatting with his friends. (Enver önyargılarından dolayı bu cevaba şaşırmıştı. Fakat hala karmaşıklığından dolayı şikayet ediyordu. Ders bitti ve Zeynep Hanımöğrencilere teşekkür ederek sınıftan ayrıldı.  Sohbeti çok seven Enver hemen arkadaşlarıyla muhabbete başladı.)

    ”What use philosophy does even have? These topics don’t make sense to me.” he said to his friends. One of Enver’s closest friends Cümşüd who came to school from Azerbaijan before the semester holiday, didn’t agree with this and he spoke up to Enver: (“Felsefe ne işe yarayacak ki, bu konular bana saçma geliyor”,diyerek arkadaşlarıyla fikrini paylaştı.   Enver'in yakın arkadaşlarından olan, daha geçen dönem Azerbaycan'dan gelen  Cümşüd arkadaşına katılmıyordu, döndü ve Enver'e: )

“You're wrong because philosophy shows up everywhere in our daily lives. Philosophy is pretty much with us in every moment.” Enver couldn’t understand it at all but he didn’t want to continue further so he changed the topic. (Yanılıyorsun çünkü felsefe günlük hayatımızın her gün yerinde karşımıza çıkar. Neredeyse her anımızda felsefe bizimledir, diye cevap verdi. Enver tam kavrayamamıştı, fazla da üstüne düşmek istemedi ve konuyu değiştirdi.)

        The break was over and the next class began, which was literature. The teacher Mr. Özkan got in the class energetically, greeting the students and starting the class after cracking a couple of jokes. The topic was literature movements. (Artık teneffüs bitmiş, bir sonraki ders olan edebiyat başlamıştı. Ders öğretmeni Özkan Bey enerjik bir şekilde sınıfa girip öğrencileri selamlayarak birkaç şakalaşmanın ardından derse başladı konu ise edebi akımlardı.)

     “Guys; as you know, throughout the literature history different ideologies were dominating in certain time periods. One of the main reasons for this was the philoso8phical movements that were active during those time periods. For an example humanism is a philosophical movement that occurred due to the human norms in Europe during the said time period. This movement has affected literature a lot and caused literary works to form around this dönemleri hakim olmuştur. Bunun başlıca sebeblerinden biri ise o dönemlerde gelişen ve etkili olan ideology.” (“Gençler biliyorsunuz ki edebiyat tarihi boyunca farklı fikirler bazı felsefi akımlardır. Örneğin hümanizm, o dönem Avrupa'da insanlık değerleri için ortaya çıkan bir felsefi akımdır. Bu akım edebiyatı da çok etkilemiş, bu dönemin eserleri bu fikrin etrafında şekillenmiştir.”)

Enver sighed and considered these events as coincidence. He was genuinely tired of the philosophy topic and couldn’t understand why he kept hearing about it. The teacher bid the class goodbye and just like that the last class ended. 

(Enver derin bir iç çekti ve bu konuların art arda gelmesini tesadüfe bağladı. Artık cidden bu felsefe konusundan sıkılmış, neden bu kadar çok karşısına çıktığını anlamlandıramamıştı. Hoca sınıfa veda etti ve böylelikle günün son dersi de bitmiş oldu.)

 Enver started walking home after saying goodbye to his friends. All he had in his mind was the stuff he heard about philosophy and he felt like he had judged philosophy wrongly. (Enver arkadaşlarına görüşürüz dedikten sonra tekrar eve doğru yürümeye başladı. Aklında ise bugünkü duydukları vardı, içten içe felsefeye haksızlık ettiğini düşünmeye başladı.)

He went home with these thoughts and sat on his desk. This occasion had affected him and constantly nagged him. So he got on his computer and did his favorite thing which is researching. (Bu düşüncelerle eve gitti ve masasına oturdu bu durum onu etkilemiş takıntı haline dönüşmüştü. Bunun için bilgisayarının başına geçip en sevdiği iş olan araştırma yapmaya başladı.)

         He learned the definition of the philosophy first. Then learned the philosophers and looked into philosophical views. He started to understand philosophy better and began to understand what Cümşüd had told him about knowing philosophy and the pleasure of learning. (İlk önce felsefenin tanımını öğrendi sonra filozofları tanımaya başladı daha sonra felsefi düşünceleri inceledi; iyice felsefeyi anlamaya başlamış, okuldayken Cümşüd' ün bahsettiği felsefeyi bilme ve öğrenme zevkini anlamaya başlamıştı. Meğerse felsefe tam da kendisi gibi öğrenmeyi ve bilmeyi çok seven insanlar içinmiş. Artık bir an önce ertesi gün olup Cümşüd ile konuşmayı bekliyordu.)

After this great research he slept peacefully and went to his school on time the next day. He sat on his school desk and turned his head to Cümşüd and says “Hey Cümşüd, philosophy turns out to be much different than what I had thought. It’s actually something just for me! You know you feel happy as you learn and become more aware.” 

(Bu güzel araştırmadan sonra rahat bir uyku çekerek ertesi sabah geç  kalmadan okula gitti. Sırasına oturdu ve arkasını dönerek Cümşüd' e, “Cümşüd cidden bu felsefe denilen şey benim sandığımdan çok farklı bir şeymiş, aslında tam da benlik bir uğraşıymış bu bilgileri insan öğrendikçe mutlu oluyor, farkındalığı artıyor.”)

    Cümşüd was happy to hear that. He smiles and says “Wait until you understand it better as you experience it in your life, Enver.” Before Enver could even answer him his favorite class, geography, starts. The class goes well and the geography teacher requests the students to find an answer to a question of his. (Cümşüd duyduklarına sevinir ve güler bir yüzle; "Daha bekle Enver hayatının içinde daha iyi anlayacaksın " der. Enver daha bir şey diyemeden, en sevdiği derslerden biri olan coğrafya başlar. Ders güzelce işlenir ve coğrafya öğretmeni öğrencilere bir soru sorarak cevabını yarın vermelerini ister.)

It was about a topic that Enver was curious about and he thinks about the answer on his way back to home. He uses multiple methods to find the answer. He tries to come to a conclusion by answering other questions related to the topic. And right at that moment the method of philosophical thinking that he learned the previous day crosses his mind. He also used the same method now! (Enver'in merak duyduğu bir konu olduğu için okuldan çıktıktan sonra  sorunun cevabını düşünmeye başlar. Kendini biraz zorlayıp sorunun cevabını  bulmak için birkaç yöntem dener. Bu konu ile bağlantılı başka soruları  cevaplayarak sonuca ulaşmaya çalışır. İşte tam da bu an aklına dün incelediği  felsefi düşünme yöntemleri gelir. Kendisi de cevaba ulaşmak için birkaç yöntemi  denemiştir.)

 In a way, he had used philosophy. And he finally understands why most philosophers are also scientists. Because life and philosophy go hand in hand. Just when he was thinking about these he remembers Cümşüd’s words “You will understand it better in your life, Enver.” (Bir nevi soruyu cevaplamak için felsefeyi kullanmıştır. Böylece aklına takılan, neden filozofların büyük çoğunluğunun hem de birer bilim adamı olduğu sorusunu cevaplayabilmiştir. Çünkü yaşam ile felsefenin iç içe olduğunu anlamıştır. Bunları içinden geçirdiği an aklına, sabahleyin Cümşüd' ün söylediği "Hayatın içinde daha iyi anlayacaksın" sözü gelir.)

Yes, Enver finally understands that philosophy is everywhere in daily life. Even his habit of thinking on his way to school was an example of philosophy. Any subject in any field was led to philosophy. There was basically no escape from it. It was just like how all the roads in Ancient Greece were leading to Rome. (Evet, Enver cidden felsefenin hayatın her yönünde olduğunu anlamıştır. En basit şekilde Enver'in okula yürürken yaptığı şey bile birer felsefe örneğiydi. Her dalda, her konu felsefe çıkıyordu, bundan kaçış yoktu tıpkı Antik Yunan' daki tüm yolların Roma' ya aparması gibiydi.)
