Once upon a time, there lived a farmer called Jayden. He was very familiar with how to take care of his crops. He watered them regularly and fertilized them. He knew that crops could get infected with pests and insects.

He used herbicides and insecticides to protect the crops. He knew that herbicides destroy the growth of weeds and insecticides control insects. He took precautions when he used herbicides and insecticides as they can cause harm to the environment and life. 

One day, Jayden was sick, so his son, Luther was in charge of the farm. Luther did not know or find out how herbicides and insecticides need to be used. He put a lot of herbicides into a nearby stream on the farm.

As a result, herbicides cause toxicity in the stream causing adverse impacts to the fish and the organisms in the stream. 

When Jayden found out, he explained to Luther, "While herbicides and pesticides can help the crops, it is vital to understand the adverse impacts of overuse."

Luther explained, "It is our responsibility to use herbicides and insecticides carefully in a way that doesn't harm the environment, the earth, and life on it."

Luther wanted to find out more about herbicides and insecticides and went to a library to find out its history.

Luther found out that, "Sinox was the first organic herbicide that was developed in 1896 in France. In the 1900s, new herbicides were being developed during World War 2 which initiated the era of weed killers. Currently, a hundred chemicals were invented and developed. "

Some of the options include:

- Improving the overall health of gardens through overseeding.

- Introducing beneficial insects and wild or hand weeds to reduce chemical use outdoors 

-Applying outdoor use pesticides when the temperature is cool to reduce herbicides and insecticide use
