There once was a boy who lived in a house.
That boy was named Hale and he had a big
back yard. But when it became Summer, Hale
hated it. Hale hated bugs that he was scared
by just touching the shell of a bug. His big
brother, Kay, liked to tease Hale by picking up
a shell of a bug and throw it at Hale. Kay was
the total opposite of Hale and he loved
bugs.Hale knew he had to do something so
one day, he crept through the back yard but
hopelessly, he screamed and ran back to the
house. Hale's mother knew she had to do

something too so she thought of lots of ways
like presenting a lady bug to Hale for his
birthday but Hale did not even look at the
bug. One day, Hale's mother was cleaning up
when she found a diary book. It was the diary
book Hale used when he was about 6 years
old. Hale's mother looked through the book.
Then, suddenly, she found a page that said,
"The Day I started to hate bugs. Hale's
mother started to read it. The recount goes
like this.

The Day I Started to Hate Bugs
On October 14th, my dad, Kay and I went
walking around our house. It was in mid
Summer and I was running down the road
when I suddenly stepped on something. It was
a Cicada flat under my shoes. Then suddenly,
another Cicada landed on my back. I screamed
and I fainted. When I woke up, I was in my
house resting in the bed. My dad was glad that
I came to. He gave me the lunch I had missed
because of the long faint.
2From that day on, I started to hate bugs.

Hale's mother finally knew the reason why
Hale hated bugs. She talked about it with Hale.
She tried to persuade him to at least have a
nice look at a bug. She offered Hale ten dollar
for taking care of a bug but even so, Hale did
not even look at a bug. The next day was
Kay's birthday so Kay's mother and father
presented him 10 bugs. Five from mom and
five from dad. Hale was a bit jealous but he
kept it to himself. Hale's mother was still
thinking how to let Hale like bugs. Suddenly,
she had the perfect idea.

Hale's mother bought a lady bug for a pet and
made a hole in an apple. Then, she put the
lady bug in the apple and taped the apple on
the tree. Then, she called Hale to pick some
apples from the apple tree. Hale went to pick
some apples in the back yard. Just as Hale's
mother hoped, Hale picked the apple that had
the lady bug inside. After that, Hale started to
clean it. While cleaning the apples, he found a
hole in an apple. He looked in it and found a
small lady bug. But Hale did not scream or run.
He just stared at it for more than a minute.
Then,

suddenly, broke the apple into two pieces and
let the lady bug out. He touched it and felt it.
Then, he broke into a laughter. He asked his
parents if he could keep it. His parents
encouraged him to play with more other bugs.
That is how he started to love bugs. Since Kay
did not know that Hale started to love bugs he
tried to tease Hale again and showed him a
butterfly but Hale only thanked Kay and took
the butterfly. Kay was shocked. 30 years past.
Now, Hale was an adult. He even studied bugs.
He studied

a lot and finally, he became famous for
studying bugs. Hale still remembered that time
when he stared at the lady bug. He said "The
Golden Apple that changed my life, I will thank
my mother and father for changing my life.
That is the story of a boy who hated bugs
when he was a kid and loved bugs when he is
an adult.
