"Please? We never get to see each other!" my cousin and I pleaded.
She (my cousin) had been asking to stay the night, yet again, with me. My parents were in Tennessee while I was in Michigan, staying at my Mammaw's and Papa's house. My cousin Hailey had been staying with me every night, and she wanted to visit again. Obviously, I wanted her to stay, too.
Her parents looked at each other and said, "Sure, you can stay, and so can Levi."
"Yeah!" Cruz said, hugging Levi.
"Ugh," we said.

Cruz was my little brother, and Levi was hers. They had been staying the night as well. They slept downstairs, nowhere near us, yet we were still annoyed by their presence. I know. It doesn't make sense how we could have been aggravated by two sleeping boys, especially when they didn't intermingle with us, but, you see, they were our little brothers. How could we not be annoyed?
Anyway, we said goodbye to my aunt and uncle and then plopped on the couch in the living room. Yep. We're couch potatoes. We played on our iPads and watched TV for a while, then decided we should go to bed.

We ran upstairs and changed into our pajamas, then jumped into bed.
"Do you want to watch something, Lacey?" Hailey asked me, pulling out her iPad.
"Uh, sure."
We scrolled through movies and TV shows and decided to watch Fixer Upper, a show we used to watch with our parents. Of course, we hated it then but became interested in it as we got older.
It was an episode about how Chip and Jo, the show's hosts, find an abandoned castle and decide to fix it up. We stopped watching it mid-episode because we were freaked out. So we decided to listen to a Christian radio program called Adventures in Odyssey.

I thought, perhaps, if we listen to a Christian program, we could calm down. I mean, you can't be scared of anything Jesus related, right?
It was pitch black. Hailey's iPad was the only sound in the room. Then, suddenly, a light flashed for a split second, then flashed off again. Well, you can imagine, we were scared. So we quickly rushed out of the room. Hailey peeked inside Mammaw's bedroom, and she wasn't there. Okay, now we were extremely frightened. We both ran downstairs and sat on the couch.
"Hailey?"
"Yeah?"
"What if... the rapture just happened and we were left behind?"
Hailey, still half asleep, asked, "Wait. What's the rapture again?"
"It's when Jesus comes back to take His followers to Heaven."
"AND WE MISSED IT?"
"Wait." I looked around. "Papa's there sleeping on the couch. We didn't miss it."
"Thank goodness," Hailey breathed.

Of course, Levi had been sitting next to us the entire time, watching a movie on his iPad, and Cruz had been knocked out on the other couch the whole time, but that didn't stop us from believing the rapture had happened. If we weren't going, there was no way our little brothers were going.
Papa got up and ascended the stairs. Hailey asked Levi to move to the other room because we weren't going anywhere. He rolled his eyes and took his iPad with him.
"We should go get our iPads," Hailey said.
