Once upon a time there lived a king
named Hrothgar. He is the ruler of the
Danes after a previous king's death. He
built a mead hall and called it Herot in
honor of his coming of king. This is where
Hrothgar and his men gathered to drink
and celebrate.

Hrothgar lived happily in the kingdom
until Grendel, a darkness-bringer,
terrorized their kingdom. He would sneak
in every night and snatch up the men in
silence. The town had been terrorized by
Grendel each and every day.

Herot was left abandoned because of
Grendel's terror for 12 years until a
courageous warrior named Beowulf heard
of the king's struggle. So Beowulf and
some of his greatest men sailed to the
Danes to help out Hrothgar.

They welcomed Beowulf with a
celebration because of his comings. A
jealous warrior, Unferth, did not believe
of Beowulf's reputation of being the best
warrior. But soon that night, his skills
were put to the test.

Grendel soon arrived at the mead hall
while everyone was asleep. The monster
bursted though the door and snatched up
a few of the men. The devilish-demise
grabbed Beowulf, but he was able to slip
out and climb up the monster's arm.

Grendel helpless and weary struggled to
get Beowulf off. Beowulf, with his all his
might, ripped off the monster's arm.
Weakened, Grendel walks back to the
swamp to soon die after. The men hang up
the arm and hold a feast for Beowulf.

The warriors see the arm and
congratulate his victory. Hrothgar sees
what Beowulf had done and throws him a
celebratory party in the mead hall. Scops
would play music and sing poems for
Beowulf.

But soon another threat was coming,
Grendel's mother. She was angry and set
out to get revenge for Grendel's death.
Sneaking through the mead hall at night,
she grabs her son's arm and killed
Hrothgar's best friend, Aeschere.

As morning arrives the men awake and
in awe saw that Aeschere was missing.
They assumed that the foot tracks leading
out the mead hall was the reason for his
disappearance. Beowulf and his men
followed the tracks to the swamp. The
men see Aeschere dead by the swamp and
are furious.

Beowulf decides to jumps into the
swamp and to seek the monster. He spots
the mother and tries to fight her with his
war-blade, Hrunting, but it was no match
against her skin hide. He gets knocked
deeper down in the swamp and sees a
sword on the wall that was crafted by
giants.

Beowulf grabs the big sword and
battles the devil-bride. With one swift
blow, he cuts off her head. After defeating
the mother, in the corner of his eye, he
sees Grendel's body and decides to cut off
the head as well. He comes out of the
water alive and the men are happy.

Beowulf, holding both heads in his
hand, takes them back to Hrothgar.
Hrothgar overjoyed throws Beowulf
another party and provides him with gifts.
Beowulf longs to return back to Geatland
where he lives. The king is proud of him
like a son and allows him to go.
