It's Saturday morning and Kazoza just woke up from a long and needed restful night before the long day ahead of her.

Her mother passed by to help her get ready. It will be her first time to wear her traditional attire. She longed for that day for a moment now.

She feels more Burundian than ever. She loves her outfit!

But a sudden frightening thought crosses her mind. In Kazoza’s culture, they love to give big hugs when they say hello. But Kazoza isn’t really into hugging a lot. She’s a bit scared that if she tries, her friends might not understand. She just wants to fit in and be accepted. 

Her mother reassures her that she shouldn’t be worried. She will meet her cousins and greet the extended family. “The will love you as you are”, she told Kazoza

As they journey to the family gathering, they talk more about their traditions and the amazing life Kazoza’s grandfather, who brought everyone together, lived.

Young and old are gathered, sharing, and discussing. The children listen attentively to everything that is said.

Kazoza and her mother attend a speech given by one of her grandfather's close friends. Kazoza is happy to see so many people gathered for her grandfather. 

'He was an incredible man, just, and loving', said the speaker.

As Kazoza watches from afar her cousin Mugisha chatting happily with the elders, she feels brave enough to join in and be a part of the fun. Seeing how Mugisha enjoys being with everyone, Kazoza discovers that sharing and being herself is the key.
