Hello I am interviewing my friend Katie for my
migration project. I wanted to interview her
because she is one of my friends. Katie was
born in Ohio and when she was 3 years old,
she moved to Japan with her family. She has
an older sister and brother and a fluffy cat. I
met her in Mrs. Born’s KA class and I miss her
very much!

What didn’t you like?
Probably, I didn't like having to be away from
my friends in Ohio and my relatives.
Did you want to move back to Ohio?
No, not really, I liked being in Japan. But I

Being in a place where they spoke the same

Did people in Ohio treat you differently when you
came back?
Well, my friends who lived close to my house...

differently than someone who had been there a
few years.
In what way?
When someone brought up Japan they would look
at me because they knew that I had been to Japan
and lived there. And if they hadn't heard I had
been in Japan, they'd be like, You moved to Japan?
and they would ask me a ton of questions.

Did you like that?
Sort of, but it sort of got awkward.
What were your favorite foods in Japan?
Rice
What were your favorite foods in Ohio?

I liked playing in the park, riding my bike,
going to the River Mall and playing with my

Hula hoop, playing with my neighbors, and Irish
dancing.
