Once upon a time there lived a girl named Katya
that lived with her Babushka. She loved her
babushka very much. One day Katya's Babushka
called her over.
"This is a magic nesting doll." said Babushka. "It
will protect you in great times of need. But be
careful my child for you can only open it three
times."
Katya took the doll and thanked her grandmother.

The next day Katya's grandmother died peacefully
in her sleep. With nothing left for her at home,
Katya took her few possessions and set off for the
great unknown.
She passed over snowy mountains until she came
to a small village.

Inn
Katya found an inn and asked for a room. The innkeeper
opened the doorknob and gave her Room #4.
"Please nice innkeeper, tell me why this land lives without
spring?"
"It is because our beloved Tsarevitch has been turned into
living stone be the Grand Vizier. None can save him from
his eternal sleep. When the spell was cast upon him, one
was also cast upon the land."
Katya thought long and hard about the frozen Tsarevitch.
Was that what her Nesting Doll was for?

Zzzzzzzz
In the morning Katya walked to the Tsarevithch's castle.
She wanted to see the sleeping prince. She found a sturdy
ladder and propped it next to his window. She climbed in
and saw the prince. He was as handsome as she had
imagined him. He was very pale and his lips were blue.
Suddenly the Grand Vizier walked in the Tsarevitch's room.
The Grand Vizier had an evil scowl upon his face.
"You!" he yelled at Katya, "What are you doing in here?"
Poor Katya could hardly make a reply before two big
guards came and took her away. They took her to a small
cave, opened the mouth of it, and shut the door.

Katya began to cry. How will she ever get out of
this dungeon? Suddenly Katya remembered her
matryoshka. She gets a flat rock and pried the first
doll open. A giant bear comes out of the
matryoshka. He rolls the huge rock away, freeing
Katya.

Katya runs back to the castle to try and see the
Tsarevitch again. She climbs up a tree and enters
the Tsarevitch's room, pushing the blinds aside.
She touches his face and something miraculous
happens. He gets warmer! Snow starts melting in
the village. The Grand Vizier, knowing his spell is
being lifted runs into the prince's room and sends
Katya to a ravine.

While in the ravine Katya opened her second
matryoshka. Out came a beautiful Siberian Wolf. he
carried her on his back out of the ravine and to the
palace.

At the castle Katya tries to climb up the tree
into the Tsarevitch's room, but finds that it had
been cut down! She decides to make herself a
catapult and fly into his room. She finds a flat
plank and props on a big rock. She then gets a
bowling ball and drops it on the other end of
the catapult.
