Sophie was unsure of life in the elven world. Fitz had just found her, even though he was extremely cute, he was insecure. She had already learned so much even though there was still a lot to learn. It was her first day at...., Foxfire Academy!? That was a strange name. When she arrived, she received a lot of stares at she hurried to her locker she had been assigned. She quickly learned all she needed to know about the classes and foods and stuff. But then there was the elven idea of P.E. Apparently it was before lunch, so Sophie could just go and read later since they probably didn't have any of the sports she liked. When she arrived at the field, other people were gathering around a man who she assumed was the teacher. "Alrighty, today we will be playing splat ball, everybody please pair up!" Dex came over to her and whispered, "Throw the ball with telepathy." I nodded and ended up being paired with another girl. When the coach called to start, I flung the ball at the girl and it caught her square in the chest. She shrieked in anger and stomped off, similar things happened with everyone else until I was paired with a cute boy with stylish blonde hair, ice-blue eyes and a cute bad-boy smirk. When Sophie looked at him, she felt a tug in her stomach, a wanting. But she pushed the feeling away and flung the paint ball at him, he caught it and flung it right back. This time Sophie flung it even harder, and an pink nuclear bomb hit him
in the stomach. He fell flat on his cute butt and looked at her in surprise. She walked across the space between them and helped him up. Sophie walked to the next spot without saying a word. She could feel the boy's stare boring into the back of her head, but the strangest thing was that when they touched, energy buzzed where his skin met hers. She shook off the thought and moved on. Later, at lunch when the children were allowed to go outside, Sophie was sitting by herself underneath a tree. A few moments later, that same boy from earlier came and sat next to her. They said nothing, but then the boy broke the silence, "Hey, you were pretty good during P.E." Sophie stayed silent so he continued, "My name is Keefe, and I'm the jester of Foxfire, famous for the Great Gulon Incident even though I was innocent of it." Sophie still didn't say anything. "Not much of a talker are you? Well, it was nice to meet you," he sighed, "see you around." Sophie felt guilty, "Wait, my names Sophie Foster." He turned and smiled, it lit up his whole face and made her want to make sure it stayed there forever. Lunch went on and she eventually played base quest with Fitz, Biana, and Keefe
When lunch was over, I was sweaty and tired but happy and buzzing with excitement. Later, when we were all light-leaping home, Keefe came over to Sophie and said, "Hey, maybe we got off on the wrong foot. I'm sorry. Can we be friends?" Sophie stared at the look on his face, the hope in his ice-blue eyes. Shee miles at him and nodded, he smiled back at her, making her heart flutter. When she got home Edaline said to her, "Did you have a good day at school?" Sophie nodded and went up to her room, collapsing on her bed. Grady walked in, smelling of burning rubber. "Trying to walk the T-Rex?" Grady sighed and replied, "Terri did NOT want to go anywhere." Sophie giggled. "Is that why you smell like burnt rubber?" Grady sniffed himself and gagged, "I should probably go take a shower."
"You think?" Grady ran over to her and smothered her with a hug. "Hey! No! STop it! You smell!" But Sophie giggled, and Grady smiled at his adopted daughter. "Now I'm really gonna take a shower." Sh laughed and waved at him as she exited her room. She flopped back onto her bed and fell asleep thinking about Keefe.
Keefe
That girl was the most beautiful elf he had ever seen. Her brown eyes had shades of amber, brown and flecks of gold. Like how cute is that? He had never seen a elf with brown eyes. That buzz when her skin met his.... Keefe relished that moment, it felt so right. He lay sprawled on his bed, letting out a contented sigh. His body guard, the ogre princess Romhilda who went by Ro, said, "Hunkyhair, has got it bad for someone hmmm? You know my seventh sense is detecting crushes right? You are never content, happy, or excited about school. So spill the beans." So I ended up telling her all about this girl. In the middle of my story, Ro cut me off and said, "Uh-oh, Pretty Ms. Perfect is coming." He jumped and started pretending to do homework. "Ah, I see you have finally taken work seriously, so I expect nothing less than a ninety-eight in your grades from now on." Keefe grimaced, and mumbled with his voice dripping with sarcasm, "Oh sure they will you maggot-infested lima bean." His father''s head snapped back to look at Keefe, "What was that?" Keefe, not wanting to be made to sleep outside said, "I said you're a magnificent human being." His father nodded and walked out the room. Keefe sighed and lay on his bed, thinking of Sophie before sleep came for him.
The next day, when Keefe light-leaped to school, he was late he ran through the halls only to crash into Sophie. The tumbled to the ground, with Sophie landing on top of him. Her hands were on his chest and one of his arms was on the small of her back, the other was trapped underneath her. Her brown eyes were wide with horror. "I-I'm s-so sorry," she stammered as she stood, "I should have be-" Keefe stood up and tucked a lock of hair that had fallen out of place behind her ear. "I'm sorry, I was the one that ran into you." Sophie smiled shyly, "Aren't you going to be late?"
"Aren't you? And besides I'm always late, anyways, this is way better." Sophie blushed and looked away. "I should probably go." She mumbled and started to walk down the hall. Keefe caught her wrist, earning him a scared look from Sophie. "Please stay a little longer," he pleaded, "I promise it will be worth your while." After a moment she nodded, but the scared look was still there. Keefe pulled her closer to him, his thumb moving absently over a lock of her hair. He felt the hard line of her hip pressed against him. Sophie's expression relaxed and her hand settled on his arm and the other reached up and toyed with his hair. Sophie broke the silence, "Some of my friends are getting together to hang out, wanna come?" He nodded but said nothing as his fingers brushed her jaw and face. She smiled at him and stood on her
tiptoes and planted a kiss between his eyebrows. Sophie giggled at his open-mouthed expression, "Two days from now, after school, bring a sleeping bag and an extra change of clothes. Havenfield." She turned and walked down the hall as Keefe stared after her.
Keefe couldn't stop thinking about Sophie for the rest of the day, how her long hair moved, how the colors in her eyes seemed to sparkle, her laugh. "Mr. Sencen!" Keefe was jolted out of his daydream by Lady Galvin's sharp voice. "Are you paying attention because if you are you should know what berry can clean rusty keys." Keefe sighed, this was easy. "Ruckleberries, ma'am." Lady Galvin turned and stalked toward her desk mumbling something about making Keefe cleaning a two-inch rusty key without getting a wrinkled finger. He smiled to himself and stared out the window. Still thinking of Sophie Foster.
Then the big night came.Sophie was prepared, she sprayed a little bit of perfume on and did her hair up in a loose bun. Her friends started to arrive, so she ran down to greet them.
