Plastic bottles in our environment
How long does it take for plastic to decompose?
It is said that the decomposition time of a plastic bottle can last from 100 to even 1000 years! However, it is assumed that water bottles, especially those made of PET (polyethylene terephthalate), need on average about 450 years to decompose.
Plastic is harmful to the environment.
When microplastics enter the soil, its PH increases and the biological activity of microorganisms decreases. In turn, plastic in the oceans generates losses in tourism and fishing and poses a serious threat to the environment, climate and living organisms.

Ways to recycle plastic bottles
You can turn ordinary plastic bottles into original, colorful flower pots or vases using paint, glue and glitter. Bottle flower pots are practical and durable. They can serve us even for several gardening seasons. Empty plastic bottles can be used for more than just flower pots

Plastic recycling process
Plastic is currently one of the most frequently used materials for the production of various types of elements. Due to its properties, such as resistance to damage and unfavorable weather conditions, relatively high resistance to temperature changes, ease of forming and low weight, it is used in many industries, including the production of various types of packaging.
For the recycling process to be effective, it is necessary to divide plastics into individual groups. First, those that can be recycled are selected from all plastic waste. This process is carried out using specialized equipment. In the next stage, the selected waste is shredded into small chips. The plastic prepared in this way can be subjected to the next stage of processing.
To make this project we have to use a variety of materials. They can range from paper, scissors or glue to bottles that you would normally throw into a bin.

First we cut the bottles and decorated them with materials. Then we used them as plant pots.

Our class used colored cards, yarn, newspapers and ribbons. We cut out Christmas decorations from them and covered plastic bottles with them.

We squeezed out various interesting shapes from material and paper, then stuck them onto bottles, slowly creating colorful flower pots.

First, I cut the bottle in half. Next, I cut three strips from different materials and glued them vertically onto the bottle.
Then, I selected another material and cut two additional strips. I made small cuts along the bottom edge of the first strip to create a fringed effect, then glued it to the top of the bottle. The second strip was glued horizontally around the bottom of the bottle.

For this project, I used glue, scissors, four types of used material, and a bottle.
