Recipe Introduction

Have you ever wanted to know how to create a
bonafide nerd? Well, here is your chance! The contents
of this short book detail how to create a "Nicki," one
particularly lovely variation of the nerd. While the
ingredients and procedure are relatively simple,
identical results are not guaranteed.

Each nerd created is unique!

Ingredient No.1 - A Nerdy Mother

Step 1: First, add the mother. In the case of
a "Nicki," the mother is not particularly nerdy herself,
but encourages all forms of creativity and
self-expression. Odd ideas are nurtured and passions
are cultivated. Books are never taken away as a form
of punishment, and educational TV is never denied.
A love of animals and science is fully encouraged. In
addition, the mother may display some secret forms
of personal nerdiness over the years, namely a
rather remarkable love for sitcoms and terrible,
low-budget cult films.

Ingredient No. 2 - A Nerdy Father

Step 2: To create a "Nicki," the father should be added
quite soon after the addition of the mother. Born in
England, the father displays many nerdy qualities that
he insists are completely natural and not nerdy
whatsoever. It is the father who will nurture a deep
love for Doctor Who in the "Nicki," as well as read to
her all manner of fairy tales, Animorphs books, and the
entire Harry Potter series. Like the mother, all passions
are encouraged -- and unlike the mother, the "Nicki" is
never expected to grow out of any of them.

Optional Related Ingredients

Optional Step: To create a "Nicki" most similar
to our own, it is best to add a few more choice
family ingredients. Grandparents are a good
option, one pair that foster a love for pursuits
such as swing dancing, UNO, and puzzles; and
another pair that nurture discussions about
Harry Potter, Robin Hood, and other areas of
nerdy interests. In addition, siblings can be
sprinkled atop your "Nicki" in order to create a
faint taste for Pokemon and other animes.
