CHAPTER 1-Tommy & Tuffy Help the Lost Kitten
Tommy was playing in his yard when Tuffy, his fluffy brown dog, perked up his ears.
“Woof!” Tuffy barked softly.
Tommy listened.
There it was — a tiny meow.
Behind a bush sat a small gray kitten, shivering and scared.
“Oh no,” Tommy whispered. “You must be lost.”
Tuffy wagged his tail and gently nudged the kitten with his nose.
Tommy picked it up carefully. “Let’s help you get home.”
They walked down the street, asking neighbors,
“Have you seen this kitten before?”
Finally, Mrs. Willow opened her door with wide eyes.
“My Muffin! You found her!”
She scooped the kitten into her arms and gave Tommy and Tuffy a warm hug.
“Thank you, helpers,” she said.
Tommy smiled. Tuffy wagged.
Helping felt wonderful.
One sunny morning, Tommy and Tuffy ran to their favorite park.
But something was wrong.
There were cups on the grass, wrappers on the slide, and bottles by the swings.
“Oh dear,” Tommy said. “Our park is messy.”
Tuffy barked as if to say, “Let’s fix it!”
Tommy grabbed a small bag.
Tuffy carried another in his mouth.
They picked up trash, one piece at a time.
Soon, other kids noticed.
“Can we help too?” they asked.
Tommy nodded. “Let’s make a Clean‑Up Parade!”
Everyone marched around the park, singing and cleaning.
Tuffy trotted proudly at the front.
When they finished, the park sparkled again.
Tommy looked around. “We did it together.”
Tuffy wagged his tail in agreement.
