Everyone in Room 12 noticed the blue box right away.
It sat on the teacher’s desk with a shiny silver lock and a note taped to the top:
DO NOT OPEN.
Of course, that made everyone want to open it even more.
“I think being curious is a good thing,” said Lina, leaning closer. “Curiosity helps us learn.”
Her friends, Max and Tia, weren’t so sure.
“But what if it’s a test?” Max whispered.
Lina shook her head. “My opinion is that curiosity helps us solve problems. If people were never curious, we’d never discover anything new.”
Before anyone could say more, the bell rang and Ms. Harper entered.
She smiled at the blue box… and said nothing.
Now Lina was even more curious than before.

At recess, Lina couldn’t stop thinking about the box.
She started noticing things she hadn’t before.
For example, she saw that the box had tiny scratch marks near the lock. She also noticed a small sticker on the side shaped like a star.
“That looks like the star stickers Ms. Harper uses on quizzes,” Lina said.
Max shrugged. “It could mean nothing.”
“But curiosity makes you pay attention,” Lina explained. “If you don’t look closely, you miss important details.”
Later that day, Lina spotted a star sticker on the classroom calendar—on Friday.
“Something is going to happen on Friday,” she
whispered.
The mystery was growing, and Lina was sure curiosity was helping them get closer to the truth.

The next day, Lina decided to ask questions.
Not about the box directly—but about puzzles.
“Ms. Harper,” Lina asked, “do you like riddles?”
Ms. Harper smiled. “Very much.”
“And treasure hunts?” Max added.
“Especially those,” she said.
Tia’s eyes widened. “So this could be a game?”
Lina nodded. “Curiosity helps you ask questions that give you hints.”
After class, they found a riddle written on the board:
Look where stories sleep,
The next clue you shall keep.
“That has to mean the reading corner!” Tia said.
They rushed to the bookshelf and found a tiny envelope hidden inside a book.
Inside was a paper key… and another riddle.
Their hearts pounded with excitement.

The final riddle led them to the dark storage room near the gym.
Max stopped at the door. “What if we get in trouble?”
Lina felt nervous too, but she remembered her opinion.
“Curiosity helps you be brave when you’re trying to learn something important,” she said.
They stepped inside and found a box with a star sticker—just like the one on the blue box.
Inside was a note:
Bring the key to the blue box on Friday.
Tia gasped. “We’re really part of this mystery!”
Lina smiled. “If we weren’t curious, we would’ve ignored the clues.”
Now they weren’t just solving a mystery—they were proving her opinion right.
