Leo lives in a beautiful village. There are many green trees, colorful flowers, and a big blue river. Leo loves to play near the water with his friends, Anna and Tom. The weather is usually nice and warm.

But this year, the summer is different. It is very, very hot. For two months, there is no rain.

One afternoon, Leo goes to the river. He is shocked. The river is very small, and there is almost no water. The green grass is now yellow and dry. The birds are not singing.

"The river is crying," Leo says to himself. He feels very sad.

Leo runs home to talk to his grandmother. She is sitting under the shade of an old tree.

"Grandmother, why is the river disappearing? Why is it so hot?" Leo asks.

Grandmother holds Leo’s hand. "The Earth is sick, Leo," she explains kindly. "People around the world use too many big cars and factories. They cut down too many forests. This makes the air dirty and traps the heat. People call this climate change."

"Can we fix it?" Leo asks.

"Yes," Grandmother smiles. "But we must start now. Small actions can make a big difference."

The next morning, Leo meets Anna and Tom. He tells them about climate change and his grandmother's words.

"We need to help our village," Leo says. "I have a plan!"

First, they change how they travel. They do not ask their parents to drive them to school. Instead, Leo, Anna, and Tom ride their bicycles every day. The air feels fresh on their faces.

Second, they save energy. At home, they turn off the lights and the television when they leave the room.

Third, they decide to plant trees. Leo’s father buys ten small green trees. The children dig holes in the dry ground and carefully plant them. Every evening, they give the new trees a little bit of water.

Other children in the village see Leo, Anna, and Tom. They want to help too! Soon, twenty children are riding bicycles and planting trees. They make a "Green Club" at school.

Two years pass. The small trees are now tall and strong. Their green leaves give nice shade. The rain comes back, and the blue river is full of water again.

Leo, Anna, and Tom sit under one of their trees. The village is beautiful, clean, and happy.

Leo smiles and says, "We are young, but we can protect our home."
