My sister always was told to keep away from the water, and I was too.

But one time we were outside, and Lake was bored.

So I gave her a little toy with water and a toy shark inside.

When mom yelled from inside to come in, I did.

But Lake was still outside, playing with the toy.

Mom looked outside and gasped.

She screamed and ran outside, running towards Lake.

A pale, skinny hand reached out from the toy.

But mom was too late.

I heard a crack and a scream, and when I looked inside, Lake was lying on the floor with blood trickling from her neck.

I ran out, crying. "call 911" my mom said, tears in her eyes.

So I called the ambulance. when they got there, they took one look and said "we can't help her. it's too late."

I dropped my voice to a whisper "what?- you- you can't just sit there while she dies!" But then they said, "we've already lost her."

I let out a cry and ran to her.

 I dropped down, sobbing.
