I am Poem: Typical Student

I am a typical high school student
I wonder when I'm going to use this stuff later in life
I hear my teachers talk a lot
I see a million math questions on my test
I want to go home and sleep for the rest of the day
I am always complaining about school
I pretend to understand the math material
I feel annoyed and tired anytime I'm at school
I worry about all the homework and tests I have coming up
I cry like a waterfall about my grades in my classes
I am confused how people like this place
I understand about half the stuff I'm taught
I say "why" "why" "why"
I dream everynight that school will be canceled
I try to pay attention, but to no avail
I hope summer comes soon
I am your typical high school student
I am Poem: Typical Student
I wrote this poem the way I did because it seemed like a fitting topic as I was in school, writing this poem.
I used this type of figurative language because I wanted to create a more dramatic and exaggerated/boring effect.
This is one of my longest poems and I wanted to make a good poem and show how a typical student would act and think.
Bio Poem: Mateus Palmer
This poem was an easy one to write, and the way I did it was easy. I just had to think about my life and what I did.
I used this type of figurative language as I really wanted to express and dramatize these points. Such as "Warmth of a 1000 hugs"
For background knowledge, this is a poem about my life, and most of the things I did, want, and have.
Mateus Determined, funny, caring, and strong like an Ox: Best friend of Tristan
Lover of Sports, gaming, and movies
Who feels ecstatic to do sports, hang out with friends, and go shopping
Who needs friends, vacation, and a hug with the warmth of 1000 suns
Who gives his time, effort, and patience into everything he does
Who fears disappointment, failure, spiders
Who would like to see Avengers Doomsday, Sweden, and Hawaii
Resident of Santana High School

Re-Creation Poem: Classic Christmas
Warm fire
Bright as day
Outside the night is cold
The fire cracking before me
Calming hot chocolate
Glowing christmas trees
I warm my hands by the fire
The light in my eye I can’t help but smile
As this gray December
Is one to remember
Selected words are from Gary Soto’s poem “Oranges”
Re-Creation Poem: Classic Christmas
I wrote this poem the way I did as many of the words in his poem had to do with "glowing" "lights" "trees" etc. All of which fits into a Christmas category.
I used figurative language such as "Light in my eye" and "Calming hot chocolate" to pass on a type of calming and cozy tone.
You do not need much background knowledge as Christmas is a pretty basic and easy topic to write about. I tried to make it a classic christmas.
Stylistic Imitation Poem: Ash and Destruction
I chose this topic for my poem because it was a traumatic natural disaster, and I thought it would be interesting to write about.
For my figurative language, I used words and phrases like "Sky bright like a million suns" to express and exaggerate the destruction the volcano brought.
Pompeii was a city that was destroyed by a volcano. It was a very destructive and horrific natural disaster that I thought would be interesting to write about.
At 1 in the afternoon
It was 1 in the afternoon
An explosion as loud as a nuke
At 1 in the afternoon
As molten lava rained down
At 1 in the afternoon
People bled from their ears
At 1 in the afternoon
As the city of Pompeii was destroyed
At 1 in the afternoon
The sky bright like a million suns
At 1 in the afternoon
Stylistic Imitation Poem: Ash and Destruction
People ran for their lives At 1 in the afternoon,
buildings crashed and burned
At 1 in the afternoon People were turned to stone At 1 in the afternoon As the volcano roared down at the city of Pompeii At 1 in the afternoon
Imitation of Federico García Lorca's style in his poem "Llanto por Ignacio Sanchez Mejias"
joy·ful/ˈ adjective
feeling, expressing, or causing great pleasure and happiness.
School is cancelled
No alarm yelling at me to wake up
I can stay forever in bed
Skies are clear
The game is on
Food is on the table
Today is filled with so much joy
There is just nothing that could annoy
Definition Poem: Joyful Day
Definition Poem: Joyful Day
For my definition poem, I chose a simple, easy adjective that could make a very pleasing poem.
For my figurative language, I really like using hyperbole's to express exaggeration. Such as "Stay in bed forever".
This was a very simple poem. And was entirely based on what I think a joyful day would be like.
Limerick Poem: School is not cool
My Limerick Poem is a very simple yet effective piece. It is a short poem about school that I thought would be cool to write.
I used figurative language to emphasize how boring school is. Such as "Even if school makes you drool". I think this does a good job of representing my poem.
I enjoy writing poems about school, good or bad. And this one was about school and how boring it is.
Honestly, school is not that cool
They must take me to be a fool
Seems like forever
But just endeavor
Even if school, does make you drool
