Childhood

As a child, Clara's childhood was quite sensitive, but she learned a lot from her brothers and sisters. Her sisters Dorothy, and Sally, they taught her to read when she was really young. Her brother Steven taught her mathematics, and David taught her how to horse ride.
Clara loved to pretend that she was a nurse. She often cared for sick or injured animals. When she was ten, her brother David fell from a barn roof and hurt his head very badly. Clara took care of him for 2 years, even after doctors gave up hope. This experiment showed Clara her natural talent and love for nursing

Clara was a very shy , intelligent girl who overcame intense shyness then, to become an educator and nurse. She got educated at home, and locally began teaching at the age of 17.

Adulthood

Clara worked as a nurse in the army, worked in Washington DC, and was a teacher. She was a teacher because her parents said it would help her shyness. She was an army nurse because she always dreamed of being a nurse and wanted to help the wounded soldiers. She worked in Washington DC to earn the same pay which other people did not like.
