Introduction

Languages help people communicate, share ideas, and connect with different cultures. In the project "Languages Without Borders", we explored the languages of our partner countries: Ukraine, Turkey, Romania, Italy, and Poland (UTRIP).

In this final product, we present interesting facts, examples, and cultural features of these languages. Our project shows that despite speaking different languages, people can learn from one another and build friendships across borders.

Five facts about Ukrainian Language

1. One of the most melodic languages in the world. According to UNESCO, Ukrainian ranks among the top 3 most melodic languages — after Italian and French.
2. Spoken by over 40 million people
Not only in Ukraine — but also in Canada, Poland, the USA, and many other countries.

3. Ukrainian has 33 letters. It’s written in the Cyrillic alphabet and includes unique letters like ї, є, ґ, і — sounds that don’t exist in other Slavic languages.

4. The language of resilience
It was banned and suppressed many times in history — but always survived through those who kept speaking, writing, and singing in it.

5. Ukrainian printing began in 1574. The first printed book, “Apostol” by Ivan Fedorov, was published in Lviv — marking the beginning of Ukrainian written culture.
