Welcome to the Great State

Come on, hop in we are taking a trip around the state of Texas. 

The state of Texas is huge, there is parts of the state that look completely different than the rest of the state.

Let's go explore the four regions!!

What is a Region?

A region is an area with common features.

Texas has four main regions:

Mountains and Basins

Great Plains

North Central Plains

 Coastal Plains

Mountains and Basins

Welcome to the mountains and basins region.

This region is full of mountains, basins, valleys, and deserts. 

This area does not receive 

much rainfall, so plants

have survive with little

water. 

Life in the Mountains and Basins

This region is home to the highest peaks in Texas.

It is super dry and the plants here include dessert shrubs, and cactus. These plants can live without water.

This area proof that Texas is not all flatland

Now we head over to the Great Plains region.

Most of this area is full of open, flat land. Part of the Texas panhandle is located here. 

You are able to see for miles in the Great Plains.

Farming and ranching is huge in this region.

Life in the Great Plains

This region is vital for agriculture. 

Farmers grow crops here, and ranchers raise cattle here. 

The wind is also really strong here. Due to that wind energy is really big in this region. 

North Central Plains

Now we have landed in the Central Plains.

This region is full of hills, grasslands, and plains.

This area receives the most rain therefore it is the greenest.

Life in the Central Plains

This area supports farming and ranching just like the great plains.

The green grass is great for farming and agriculture. 

Big cities have grown throughout this region.
