Mia loved going to school. She loved seeing her friends, creating art, and playing outside at recess.
But one Tuesday morning, something was very strange.
When Mia walked through the school doors, she stopped.
Everything was gray.
The walls were gray. The lockers were gray. Even the colorful artwork hanging in the hallways had turned gray.
“What happened?” Mia wondered.
Then her best friend, Jayden, ran up to her.
“Did you notice it too?” he asked.
Mia nodded.
"Our school lost its colors!"

Mia and Jayden decided to investigate.
They walked through the gray hallway looking for clues. When they entered their classroom, Mia noticed something sitting on her desk.
It was a small piece of paper.
Mia picked it up and read:
“The colors will return when someone remembers what makes them special.”
Jayden looked confused.
“What does that mean?”
“I don't know,” Mia said. “But I think we
have to figure it out!”
Suddenly, a tiny yellow sparkle appeared on the paper.
The colors will return when you realize what makes them special
It pointed toward the library.
Mia and Jayden hurried towards the library; everything was grey.
Mia noticed something; a book was glowing!
She carefully pulled it from the shelf.
The cover said "The Five Colors"
Inside were 5 empty pages.
The first page said Courage and next to it was a bright red crayon.
Mia picked it up, and suddenly the hallway was red.
I think we found our first clue! Mia said.

Mia and Jayden studied the rest of the book once they went into the hallway. They realized that each color represented something important.
Red meant courage.
Yellow meant kindness.
Blue meant friendship.
Green meant growth.
Purple meant creativity.

“But where are the other crayons?” Jayden asked.
Mia looked around the library.
“I think we have to find them.”
The two friends grabbed the book and started their search.
Their adventure had just begun!
Mia and Jayden found the yellow crayon near the cafeteria.
As they walked by, they noticed a student struggling to carry a huge stack of books.
One book fell to the floor.
Mia quickly picked it up.
“Here, let me help you,” she said.
“Thank you!” the student replied with a smile.

Suddenly, the yellow crayon began to glow.
A warm yellow light filled the cafeteria.
Mia smiled.
“I think we found kindness!”
Jayden nodded.
“Maybe kindness really can bring color back.”
Next, Mia and Jayden found the blue crayon on the playground.
They noticed a student sitting alone on a bench.
Mia walked over.
“Do you want to play with us?” she asked.
The student smiled.
“Sure!”
