Monitor

This component helps you see what the computer wants to show to you with images that (sometimes) change appearance hundreds of times per second!

The graphics card handles the processing needed for pictures on a monitor so it doesn’t have to overburden itself.

Keyboard

The keyboard lets you type words and commands to your computer! It was the first thing that let you communicate with it.

Mouse

The mouse helps you point and click as a method of communication with the computer. Most practical uses of the mouse require the computer to have a graphical interface and a monitor to host the cursor.

Disk Drive

The disk drive uses magnetic discs and a needle to help your computer retain memories, even if you unplug it! (Don’t do that while it’s awake.)

CPU

The CPU is like the brain of your computer, similar to your conscious and unconscious mind. Except the computer has sixteen brains.
