Dedicated to my English teacher Mr. Busby,
I would have not written this book without you.

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Lydia. She lived in a blue house with her brother, sister, mom, and dad.
The little girl was happy, she loved her family and her blue home in Memphis.
One day the little girl's father, who was a doctor, told her that they were moving to Africa so that he could practice medicine there. She was scared, she did not want to leave her home.

Mom and Dad told her that they would have to go all over the world for training before they could go to Africa.
So, Lydia and her family visited places like Greece, Venice, Rome, Slovakia, and many more for their training.
The girl and her family had fun visiting all over the world.

Lydia and her family were finally ready to go to Africa. They would be living in Ethiopia for two years.
Their house in Ethiopia was different from their blue house in America. It was called a compound, with two separate houses within a gate, made for more than one family to live in, but Lydia and her family lived alone.

Mom had to homeschool Lydia and Sister, meaning that the girl had to do all of her kindergarten work from home.
Lydia would sometimes watch all the other Ethiopian boys run to school and she would get sad. But the little girl knew that Mom had to homeschool her and Sister because where she was living, it was not safe for little girls to go to school.
The little girl was lonely sometimes, but she had two friends she would play with.

Lydia would play with her two friends everyday, they would go outside and play house and the two friends would pretend like the little girl was their baby!
These two girls would not be able to play for long, a woman would call them after a while and ask for the two friends to help with house chores.
The two girls were only a year older than the girl and had never gone to school.
