These are craters!
Hello everyone! My name is Alex, and I am from the
planet Mars. I am new to Earth so I am going to
explore as many places as I can before I have to go
back home! I cannot wait to share my journey with
you, so come along and enjoy learning about many
different things with me!

Let's be geologists
and study the
Earth!

Before we begin, I want to tell you a little bit about
how the universe was created. 14 billion years ago,
there was a giant explosion in space called the Big
Bang Theory. That is what formed the planets,
galaxies, moons, and stars. Scientists have formed
hypothesizes about this phenomenon, but this theory
has not been made into a law because it cannot be
proven false.

It feels nice up here!

I wonder what that blue color is and what those
white fluffy things are. Do you know what that
picture is?
That is right! The blue is the sky and the giant
white pillows are called clouds. Precipitation or
rain, falls from the clouds when they get to full
with water from the ocean.
Many different objects can be seen in the sky like
airplanes, birds, and even bees!
The sky is everywhere and it is created by different
layers of gas.

The atmosphere you live in has 5 layers, but you
cannot see them- they are invisible. They are up at a
very high altitude in the sky and they are made of
gaseous substances.
The bottom layer, which is closest to you is called the
troposphere. Next, is the stratosphere. Then, the
ozone layer and then the mesosphere is on top of
that. The top layer is called the thermosphere.
All of those help protect all of the living things on
Earth from harmful Sun rays and ultraviolet radiation
exposure.

When the Sun is tired and needs to go to sleep, the
Moon comes out at night. This is what the sky looks
like at night.
Sometimes you can see comets, constellations, or
even other planets!

I'm out of this world!Someone who studies astronomy, or space
is called an astronomer.

I am sure you know what this is a picture of. This is
the planet you live on- Earth! It is made of 5
different layers. Inside the Earth, the very first layer
is a sphere called the core. On top of that is the
outer core, then the mantle, and then the crust.
The crust is what the surface you stand on is made
of. It has two layers called the asthenosphere and
lithosphere.

The equator is an imaginary line that separates the North hemisphere from the South Hemisphere.

Everything in the world is made up of
atoms. All of the things in the previous
pages are made of atoms. Like the
planets, clouds, the core, and oxygen.
Atoms are the basic building blocks of
matter that make up everyday objects.
Your clothes and shoes are made of
atoms. Your hair and the food you eat
are even made of atoms! However, you
cannot see atoms, they are invisible.

Now that we know more information about the
Earth, lets explore what kind of things live on the
beautiful planet!
See the green and blue things around me in the
picture on the left? Turn the page to learn what
they are!

Hey don't forget about us, dinosaurs!
Earth is different than other planets; there are many
different things that live on Earth. It makes up a
biosphere-the ecosystem comprising the entire earth
and the living organisms that inhabit it. Where I am
from, we do not have a biosphere.
Those green things you see in the picture are called
continents. There are 7 of them and they used to be
combined together and form the super-continent
called Pangaea until continental drift occurred.
The blue all around them is water. There are 5 major
oceans in the world.

The 7 continents are: North America, South
America, Africa, Antarctica, Europe, Asia, and
Australia.
North America is the continent you live on and it is
located north of South America and west of
Europe.
Let's go explore the country of North America!

Welcome to the Pacific Ocean!
North America is a great place to live because
there are many different biomes.
The United States largest biomes are: the desert,
grassland, deciduous forest, and coniferous
forest.
