The foal took a look at the pasture. It was airy and dotted with old and young horses. He took off at a gallop, pranceing over hills and streams. When he was caught, he was called, Lightning Streak, because of his speed. His mother, a chocolete mare named Muddy, was proud of him. Though he ran fast and jumped high he was sad and small. The other foals teased him because of it. Lightning Streak trotted into the forest after they finished and stood by a pond only he knew of. Streak grazed on the ripe green grass after he layed down under the shade of the crab apple tree. There he thought.

Cream was a white phillie who lived with Streak. Cream didn't know Streak. Cream went to the secret pond. Streak was weeping.

"Are you here to make fun of me or trick me?"Streak stormed.

"No, I do not even know who you are."Cream replied.

Streak got up and trotted over. Cream reached for an apple. Then noticed the shortness of the colt and tossed him an apple.

Streak then said, "Want to race?"

Cream replied,"Sure."

And they were off. Streak galloped off as Cream was left behind. Soon, Cream was on Streak's tail.

Then, CRASH! Night tripped Streak. Cream skidded to a stop. Night's gang was bewildered. All of them knew Cream was the most attractive philly in the pasture. Night sputtered then galloped away.After an examination Cream let Streak run promiseing to meet him at the forest edge at sun rise.Night looked at the small colt later and trotted over.Streak halted at the fence."Ha ha ha.So Shorty,what are you giveing Cream,grass hay feed?"Night called.By then Streak had dissapered into the forest.

After that Cream wanted a rematch to the barn.Streak excepted.And they were off.Chargeing along,Streak in the lead,Cream catching up.Night tried his tripping trick agin but Streak jumped right over him.Instead of triping Streak,Night tripped Cream!Cream landed on her leg but it split her hoof and injured her leg.Streak fumed,"Night you hurt Cream.All because of trying to trip me since I'm short!"Streak then ran faster than he ever had.Streak got the attintion of his owner and led him to Cream.Then the famer imediatly went to the house and called the vet.Streak tracked down Night and niped him and yelled,"Stop.Stop tricking me you hurt Cream and that was the last straw."Then Streak cantered away.

Streak ran to the apple tree and back every day.Cream was happy Streak came every day to the barn.Cream liked to have company while she waited for the stitches to be gone.Cream wanted to run and jump agin. Cream could hardly walk so she had to wait six weeks.Streak came over day after day helping her get to the water trough.Once,Night came.Cream layed her ears back and showed the whites of her eyes and Night galloped away.Five weeks later Cream was able to trot slowly on her own.Then two days before her stitches came out a coperhead came close to a bite.Cream trotted away,but the snake followed then out of nowere Streak cantered in.
