Dear Fifth grade class,Hello! I’m Joyah I am 10 and my favorite color is aqua! I’m writing to you because I am doing something called the Great Mail Race! We are doing this to learn about the 50 states, and because my teacher told me it would be fun! What will your purpose be of writing to me? To get to know each other and learn about different states. I go to Estes McDoniel Elementary school in Henderson NV. I’m in 5th grade. Our school goes from pre-k-fifth grade. We have 596 kids in our school and 27 in our class! Our school colors are green and blue. Our school mascot is the Marlin. Our school year starts in August and ends in June. The school day starts at 8:00am and ends at 2:11pm.We do switch periods from writing, reading, math, and science. We do have special classes Art, P.E., Library, Marine Lab, G.A.T.E, and Music. We are one of the few schools that have science and G.A.T.E. But we do not have extra-curricular classes. For field trips we go on scientific ones. Once we went to a place called pali and learned all about out door life, and got to dissect a fish.

Our state is mostly famous for silver and casinos. Some famous people who come from our state are Chriss Angel, and Lance Burton. Who are both magicians! Some interesting tourist attractions are the strip, Downtown Las Vegas and red rock all very interesting! Some major waterways by Henderson are Lake Mead and the Hover dam. The regular climate is 77.4.Our community is suburban. The city I live closest to is Las Vegas NV. If you would come here I would suggest going to the strip, downtown Las Vegas and the High roller!

I've heard one of the things Maryland is most famous for is having 48 people that are 114 years or older. The world oldest people. Why else is Maryland famous? I also heard some famous people from your city are Tony Braxton, Ira Glass, and Mo'nique! I read some interesting tourist attractions to visit would be Baltimore inner Harbor, and Baltimore and Ohio railroad museum! I know a major waterway by Maryland is Chesapeake Bay! Also I read the climate in Maryland usually is 87.1.Am I right? From what I saw, I believe Maryland is rural. Is that right? I’ve heard a close city to Maryland is Rosedale. I read if I went to Maryland I should visit the boardwalk and Chesapeake Bay and Chesapeake Bay museum. I loved learning about your state a teaching you about mine. Sincerely, Joyah
