Proclamation of 1763It closed off the frontier to colonial
expansion.
It had established 4 new different
colonies; Quebec, West Florida, East
Florida, and Grenada.
The Proclamation had provided that all
lands west of the heads of all rivers which
flowed into the Atlantic Ocean from the
west or northwest were off-limits to all of
the colonists.

In 1765, Parliament passed this cost saving
measurement to benefit the British soldiers.
Colonists were required to quarter, or house,
British soldiers and provide them with food and
other necessary supplies.
General Thomas Gage, commander of these
forces, put mist of the troops in New York.

Stamp Act, 1765Parliament required all legal and
commercial document to carry and
official stamp showing that a tax has
been paid.
All diplomas, contracts, and wills
required this stamp.
The Stamp Act resulted in a new way to
tax the colonies.




Townshend Acts, 1767Charles Townshend told parliament that he had a
way to raise revenue in the colonies.
It suspended New York's assembly until New
Yorkers agreed to provide housing for troops.
Provided taxes, duties, and various goods into
towns such as glass, paper, paint, lead, and tea.



Boston Massacre, 1768Fall of 1768, 100 British soldiers
arrived in Boston under the
command of General Thomas Gage
After tensions increased, it
exploded in violence causing fights
and gun firing.
Crispus Attucks and 4 others had
given their lives for freedom.




Tea Act, 1773Designed to prop up the East India
Company which was floundering
financially and burdened with 18 million
pounds of tea.
The tea was shipped to colonists at a
bargained price.
This was the final spark to the
revolutionary movement in Boston.



Boston Tea Party, 12/16/1773Men disguised as Native Americans boarded 3 tea ships and
dumped all of the tea into the ocean.
George Hewes and others destroyed 342 chest of tea.
This was done due to King George III's taxing to the
American Colonies.
