Hi, my name is Lexa, I live on Jupiter. My dream is to go to earth. I have never breathed real air or floated in the water. Because I was born on a space station, they didn’t even know if I was going to survive the first few hours let alone ten years! Mum says that I am a miracle child or something. I don’t really know what she is on about. Anyway I live on the American space station, I live here with my mum and three other astronauts. Mum said the fact that I have natural blue hair is incredible, I don’t get it, it’s just hair. 

Anyway at the moment it is pretty peaceful. Well, it was until mum got some news that changed everything!

‘’ Mum, mum what’s wrong?’’ I ask as I see my mother crying in the corner trying not to be seen by anyone.

 ‘’ It’s the space station! The oxygen is going to run out in three months and there is nothing that we can do to fix it.’’ she said with tears streaming down her face.

‘’ Why is that a problem? I have always wanted to go to Earth.’’ I said

‘’ Because the researchers on earth say that if you go to earth, the atmosphere alone will kill you.’’ she said,

I didn’t know what to say, I just felt empty like I was nothing, and it felt even worse knowing that you were the one to kill your mum because she wouldn’t leave you to die on the space station alone. All I wanted to do was scream, but I knew that would only make things worse.

" Mum I have decided that I don’t care if I could die! I am getting on that rocket and we are both going to earth. I am not going to be the reason that you die, I am going to be the reason that you live.’’ I announced.

 My mum was speechless she looked like she was going to cry again but this time with joy I knew that I meant the world to her but I also knew that she wanted her old life back and I needed to let her have it.

‘’Ok then we leave in two days but you need to get packing now.’’ Said mum.

‘’ Launch in te minus 2 minutes’’ announced the loud speaker my heart filled with hope knowing the I was going to earth. Before I knew it I was shooting through the air in a rocket at the speed of light. I could see the space station getting smaller and further way. But suddenly the rocket started to rock and started to split in half like a knife was cutting through it, and mum was on the other side of the rocket and I could see her trying to jump to my side but failing, all I saw was mum floating away from me into outer space.
