is for Boycott
Boycotting was hard but it worked.
-Boycotting forced America to produce its own products
-America's boycotts forced Britain to repeal their taxes
-Boycotts were very effective


is for Compromise of 1850

The Compromise of 1850 delayed the civil war.
-Henry Clay wrote the Compromise of 1850
-The Compromise of 1850 made California a free state
-The Compromise allowed slave owners to retrieve their fugitive slaves

is for Democracy

Our government is not a full democracy.
-A Democracy takes the popular vote of all the people
-Democracies work for small groups of people
-Democracy originated in Ancient Greece

is for East Coast

The East coast runs along the Atlantic Ocean.
-The British colonists originally landed on the East Coast
-The East Coast was the major trading and shipbuilding area of America
-In early America, most of the population lived in the East Coast

is for Federalism

Federalism keeps America together.
-Federalism splits the power between the federal and state governments.
-Federalism stops the Federal Government from having too much power
-Federalism helped anti-federalists support the constitution
is for Great Britain

Great Britain is a country in Europe.
-Great Britain used to control America
-Great Britain used a system called mercantilism
-America revolted from Great Britain starting in 1776.
is for Hamilton

Alexander Hamilton wasn't that cool, but people are making plays about him now.
-Alexander Hamilton was a Federalist
-Alexander Hamilton made the National Bank
-Alexander Hamilton was Washington's Treasury Secretary
is for Intolerable Acts

Americans hated the intolerable acts.
-The Intolerable acts were made to punish Americans for the Boston Tea Party
-The British shut down the Boston Harbor
-Allowed British officers charged with capital offense to travel back to England to be tried there

is for John Adams

Most people did not like John Adams.
-He was the second president of the USA
-He was part of the Federalist Party
-He wrote the Alien and Sedition Acts to close doors to immigrants and to prevent anybody from saying anything bad about him.

is for Kansas-Nebraska Act

The Kansas-Nebraska Act increased the tension between North and South.
-Repealed the Missouri Compromise
-Kansas and Nebraska would be decided as slave/free based on popular vote
-Caused "Bleeding Kansas"

is for Louisiana Purchase

The Louisiana Purchase was purchased for less than 42 cents per acre.
-The Louisiana Purchase doubled the size of America
-It was purchased for $15 million
-Thomas Jefferson bought it from France

is for Missouri Compromise

The Missouri Compromise delayed the Civil War.
-Henry Clay wrote the Missouri Compromise
-Prohibited slavery north of the 36-30 line for Louisiana Purchase Territories
-It would soon be repealed by the Kansas-Nebraska Act

is for Native Americans

Native Americans were not treated well throughout history.
-Andrew Jackson wrote the Indian Removal Acts to push Natives out of their land
-The Cherokee's path out of their homeland is called "The Trail of Tears"
-Mostly kicked to Oklahoma

is for Oregon Trail

The Oregon Trail was a long and hard journey.
-Many people traveled along the trail for the prospect of a better life in the West.
-It was very difficult for people to travel all the way to Oregon
-There was a game about the trail more recently.

is for Political PArties

Political Parties divide the country.
-George Washington advised against political parties in his farewell address
-It led to sectionalism
-Still here today, and more divisive than ever
