November 1st, 1749

My ship the Liberty had just unloaded a cargo of wood in England. Our next stop was Africa. I noticed in the distance a large castle. As our ship came closer I witnessed slaves being herded like cattle closer to the shore. I never thought much of it. To me these creatures are a way to make a living. And when the captain told me to load up the cargo, I did what I was told. The next day we would load up the slaves.

November 3, 1749

The Liberty was a ship not made for humans. Captain didn't care. He had purchased 200 of them from the local chief, in exchange he gave rum and guns to him. The male slaves were shackled together and had their hands tied behind their backs. Their bodies were dripping with sweat and had a fear of the unknown on their faces. The captain stood over the cargo hole with a whip just in case they got out of line. I watched from above as all of the cargo was loaded and we pushed off. It would be the last time any of these creatures would see their homes again.

November 7, 1749

We have been sailing for a few days and the noise below has stopped. The screaming for help is unbearable at the beginning but soon they realize they are trapped. I went below with on of my crew members to inspect the slaves. The smell made me gag. I have a hard time catching me breath and I found my shoes were sticking to the floor. The urine and waste made my eyes water. A slave reached towards the foot of my crew member and he took out a sword ready chop off his arm. I grab his arm reminding him that a dead slave is worth nothing to us.
