Dedicated to Avery of the Juniper class

One day, Avery was outside in the play ground and thought he saw a splinter on his finger. He began to cry and cry. Krista, one of his teachers, came over to Avery, and asked, "what is the matter?"

In a very sad voice, with tears running down his face, Avery replied, "I have a splinter in my finger." Krista then began to look at Avery's finger but didn't see anything there. Avery wasn't satisfied with the response that he got from Krista, so he then moved on to the next teacher, Katie.

Avery walked over to Katie and said, "Katie, I have a splinter. Katie bent down and began examining Avery's finger. She then replied, "Aves, I don't see a splinter there." Avery began to cry more and more and then walked over to Jana, another teacher. Jana replied, "Avery, I don't see a splinter."

The children moved into the classroom and began getting ready for lunch. Avery was still in pain, and still trying to look for the missing splinter. Shayla then walked into the room and Avery began to tell her about the splinter. Shayla looked at the splinter but didn't notice that anything was there. She offered to bring Avery to the office to go find Amanda to look at the splinter. Avery aggreed.

Shayla and Avery made it into the office, but there was a problem, Amanda had left for the day so Avery saw Katy and Kim. He told them what was going on, but Avery kept saying, "I want Amanda." Katy offered a band aid, but this wasn't a suitable solution. So Avery and Shayla walked back to the classroom, with no hope.

Once back in the classroom, Avery asked for a band aid and still responded by saying, "I want Amanda." Avery then went to his mat for nap time and Shayla helped him fall asleep. Turns out, the splinter wasn't missing after all, it was all a dream. Good night, Avery!
