To whoever may read this book...

Our car stopped in front of a severely worn down house. When Mum had just announced that this was our new house, I couldn't do anything but stare deeply into it, as tears started forming in my eyes. Bats were circling above head, I never saw bats in my whole life that close. I almost didn't want to get out of the car, but hearing the cheerfulness of Mum had given that house a second chance. I knew that Mum was just as upset as me to be living in a half demolished cabin, far far away from any residence.
I continued inside the cabin, only to find more junk and more cobwebs. Darkness surrounded me, I felt unsafe and insecure... even with the presence of Mum. I wondered why we had to live here. I get the fact that Dad got a new job here in Wisconsin, but why this particular house. We were a middle-class family, we could afford something far more grand than this shack. I was just too afraid to tell Mum that I didn't like the house, although I figured she would have already known.
I just then realized about school. It would be a huge pain to drive over 20 miles to go to school. I knew that no bus would be arriving at this house for sure. I decided that it would be an appropriate thing to ask about school and grocery stores. "Oh, well school... you're going to be home schooled and because I have work from home now, I'll be your teacher, Ava." Mum replied hesitantly. My mind was booming with different thoughts, the fact that I probably wouldn't have any friends fro now on, actually scared me. I'd become that kid who was really anti-social.
Beyond all others, I still wanted to know where the nearest grocery store was, what about our food?! "The nearest grocery store is about 18 miles away, not bad right?" Mum answered trying to make it sound alright. Well, I still thought it was pretty darn bad. Dad finally chimed into the conversation, "Ava, this house was pretty expensive. I know you might think it's a shack, but it's got history. That why I needed to buy it, for the job. After my current job project is done, we'll move somewhere better, okay? I have to study the past of this cabin for a good promotion. After that, we could move into a mansion!" I was shocked. This was temporary and for his job!? I pictured a big mansion and that was the only happy thought that I've had so far today...
