This book is dedicated to Fly, Lilo and Stitch

Red awoke to waves crashing on the rocks of her humble, island home. She rubbed her eyes and stood up, breathing in the fresh salty air. Taronga, her beloved tiger was stilling sleeping on her small green leafy mat. "Taronga!" Red yelled,"Wake up its breakfast time!"

Red raced over to her wooden outdoor table and peered out through the trees. The view was incredible. It looked out across the oceans glimmering waters.

After breakfast, as they were stacking the table, Taronga ran to the balcony and growled fiercely at the sea. Suddenly a gunshot pierced the air sending birds wildly scattering from their perches. "Lesley," Red hissed through gritted teeth. She hated Lesley, the hunter who had always been trying to convince her to give over the island to him. Of course, she always refused. Never would she give up her island, especially not to a selfish poacher like Lesley.

Red and Taronga both raced over to the impostor's boat that lay resting on the shore. Lesley sat with a gun slung over his shoulder and hiding his jet black hair, was a cap bearing the words 'Hunting Nationals'.

"Lesley would you please go away," seethed Red, "You're scaring the animals!" "Oh yes, did you hear the gunshot?" asked Lesley, smiling in a way that made Taronga growl.
"Yes I did and once again, I'm not interested in selling my island.”
Lesley replied with a smirk, "Oh didn't you hear the government's getting tired of your boring little island and it’s little hobo girl?"

Red refused to believe him. "Go away or I will set Taronga on you!" Perfectly on cue, Taronga growled fearlessly and stepped forward ready to defend her master. With that Lesley, turning a pasty white, took off in his boat.

grrrrr!

A week later, Red received two letters, delivered by her pelican friend and postman, Fisher. The first letter from Lesley read, "How do you like living on the streets little hobo girl?" Red had a grave feeling come over her but she pushed on and read the next letter it proclaimed,

"This island is deemed no longer yours; you have no
use for it and I have had complaints about the waste of such a fine natural resource.
Furthermore, a young man gave me a brilliant idea to turn this place into a game park for hunting. You do have tigers on your island don't you, along
with some lovely birdlife for the taking? Good luck, ‘The Government.’"
