Percy Jackson was not like any other normal 

kid. There was something strange about him 

and he realized this when his teacher attacked 

him. She turned into a bird and began to 

attack until he was saved by his other teacher 

Mr. Brunner when he threw him a magical 

sword.

For the rest of the school year everything went 

back to normal like nothing happened until one 

night. Percy went to Mr. Brunner for help about 

a test but overheard shocking news. Mr. 

Brunner and Grover, a friend of Percy were 

talking about something bad happening at the 

beginning of summer and talking about Percy.

At the end of the year Percy is kicked out of 

Yancy Academy and goes home to see his 

mom. She tells him that they're going on a 

vacation to his favorite place for the weekend 

and everything will be okay, and that she'll 

find him a new school next year.

While on vacation at the cabin Grover finds 

them and tells them there is a monster behind 

them and Grover has furry legs and hooves. 

They run to the car and drive a way as fast as 

possible to get to camp half-blood where Percy 

will be safe but the monster hits the car and 

causes it to crash.

The monster kidnaps Percy's mom and sends 

her to the underworld. Percy is angry and 

attacks the monster while Grover is passed 

out. He kills the monster causing it to 

disappear and then drags Grover into the camp 

and passes out.

Percy wakes up at camp half-blood to find out 

that he is a demigod and that his teacher Mr. 

Brunner is actually Chiron and has the legs of a 

horse. Grover, his best friend is half goat and 

half human and was protecting him. 

Everything he learned about Greek mythology 

in school is true, and one of the gods is his 

father.

Percy is shown around camp by Anabeth and 

meets his camp counselor Mr.D and cabin 

counselor Luke and some of the other 

campers. At dinner time, Anabeth tells Percy 

that she thinks there is going to be a war 

between the gods because they are fighting 

over something.

While playing capture the flag a hell dog 

appears and attacks Percy. He is saved by 

Chiron but hurt, and falls into the water. His 

cuts heal and it is decided who his father is, 

Poseidon the God of the Sea. He also learns 

that camp half-blood isn't safe for him.

Percy is sent to live in the Poseidon Cabin but 

he is the only child of Poseidon so there is no 

one else there. He has strange dreams about 

evil voices and the gods fighting over 

something and mentioning his name. The next 

morning he wakes up in a sweat to find the 

camp counselor Mr. D and Chiron looking for 

him.

Percy learns that Zeus' master bolt was stolen 

and the theft is being blamed on him and his 

father. Zeus wants his bolt and an apology by 

the beginning of summer or there will be war. 

They ask Percy to go to the underworld and 

get the bolt back from Hades who they think 

stole it and to bring Anabeth and Grover for 

help. Percy accepts the quest and Chiron tells 

him to talk to the oracle in the attic to find his 

destiny.

Percy learns that he will find the bolt, not be 

able to save something that matters, and be 

betrayed by a friend. He tells Chiron about his 

destiny except saving something that matters 

and being betrayed. Luke gives him flying 

shoes and tells Percy to wear them but he 

doesn't and gives them to Grover. Percy, 

Grover, and Anabeth leave the camp and head 

towards Los Angeles.

While on a bus in New York they are attacked 

by the three furies that serve Hades. They 

manage to escape the furies but the bus 

explodes and witnesses think they put a bomb 

on the bus. They are seen as criminals and 

lose all of their money and supplies.

While roaming the woods hungry and lost they 

stumble upon a garden emporium where they 

go inside because of the smell of food. Inside 

they meet a nice lady who feeds them 

hamburgers but it turns out she is Medusa and 

all of her statues were real people. They kill 

her and Percy sends the head to Mt. Olympus 

and finds out the address of the Underworld in 

Los Angeles.

That night Percy has another dream and hears 

evil voices offering a trade for his mom. He 

wants Percy to help him rise and then Percy 

wakes up. He finds Grover talking to a dog and 

the dog tells them there's a train station half a 

mile away and to take the train that leaves at 

noon.

While on the train to Denver they had a three 

hour delay in St. Louis and decided to see the 

arch. While at the top one of the ladies who 

had a dog transformed into Echnida who is the 

mother of monsters and the dog transformed 

into Chimera and attacks Percy. Being bitten 

and losing his sword he is unable to fight Percy 

jumps into the river hoping he will live. 

He lands safely in the river and his cuts and 

bites heal. He hears a voice telling him not to 

trust the gifts and to head to Santa Monica. He 

grabs his sword Riptide and heads back to the 

train station to meet Grover and Anabeth and 

they head to Denver.

The kids try to call Chiron at a gas station with 

an Iris message but Luke picks up and tells 

them campers are picking sides. They are 

running out of time to find Zeus' bolt and need 

to hurry. He also asks Percy if he's wearing the 

flying shoes still which makes Percy suspicious. 

They decide to go to the diner because they 

are hungry.

While at the Diner Ares the God of War comes 

in and sits next to them. He buys them their 

food and asks them for a favor in return for a 

ride to Los Angeles and information about 

Percy's mom. They say yes and have to get 

Ares' shield from a water park where he left it 

after him and his girlfriend ran away.

At the water park they find Ares' shield but the 

reason he ran away was because it was a trap. 

Aphrodite's husband was trying to catch the 

two of them so they ran away. After getting 

out of the trap they go back to the diner.
