Ever since the Halloween of 1995, there is always something “off” on Black Oak Lane on October 31st.  No one else has ever claimed to see anything, but I know what what I see every year, and it’s not just kids Trick-o-Treating — that’s for sure. Every year is something different:  3 years ago there were flying cats; 2 years ago I saw ghosts; last year talking Jack-o-Lanterns appeared, and who knows what strange thing will happen this year!

Chapter 1

What the heck?!

 I was just about to go Trick-o-Treating with my friends, Addy and Chloe. We were going as minion characters from the movie “Despicable Me.” But as I was getting in the car to go to Addy’s house I saw a real minion walking down the street of Black Oak! “MOM! MOM! Did you see that minion walking down our street!?” I said 

but she said back,”Oh honey you have a great imagination” 

“But mom!”

“Honey, just get your candy bag and get in the car.”

So I got in the car and we drove to Addy’s house. On the way to her house I saw my friends Alex, Aubrey, and Ava. Alex was dressed as Alex Morgan, a pro soccer player, Aubrey was dressed as Anna Pavlova, a Russian Ballerina, and Ava was dressed as Jason Zucker, a Minnesota Wild hockey player. We stopped and said hi then we kept driving to Addy and Chloe’s house. As we just were pulling in to Addy’s driveway I looked up in the sky and I saw a pink floating dress, a bloody hockey stick and... A POPPED SOCCER 

BALL!!

“Hey, Chloe, do you see that dress, soccer ball and that hockey stick, up in the sky!?”  

“What are you talking about?”

I thought to my self “Do they really not see all of that stuff right in the middle of the sky?!”
After that we saw my friend Christie and she was coming to Trick-o-Treat with us, she was dressed up as Zach Parise, a Hockey player for the Minnesota Wild. When Christie came over I asked her and Addy, “Hey guys see that stuff in the sky?” 

“What stuff?” asked Christie.

“We haven’t even had any candy yet and you are already going crazy!” said Addy.

“Never mind” I said then we continued to get on with Trick-o-Treating. As we went to the 5th house in Hadley Hills I looked up in the sky and I saw a big black hockey puck! I asked the women handing out candy, ”Hey excuse me but do you see that hockey puck in the sky?”

She said back,”You kids just get weirder everyday, I blame those phones and fancy nancy electronics!”

“Come on let’s go to the next house,” said Chloe.  

“I hear this house gives out full size candy bars!” says Addy. 

Chapter 2 

The Question 

As we were making our way into Chloe’s neighborhood I saw my friend Jacqueline and she was Trick-o-Treating with her sister. We all said hi and then we all continued to go door to door saying “Trick-o-Treat,” and it finally felt like a normal Halloween, something that we have never had before! But right as I said that WOOSH!!! “Whoa did you guys see that!?” Christie said.
“Finally you guys see all the weird stuff going on, too!” 

“What? No I just saw that house to the left give out a 3 POUND GUMMIE BEAR!!!” 

“No way!!” said Chole.
“How is that even going to fit in my candy bag?!” asked Addy.

“ I don’t even know!” said Christie.

“But anyway, the big question is what is triggering all of this weird stuff that has been happening these past years?” I said.
