Meet Lily. She loves her family so much, but she is concerned about their overall health.
Hello, my name is Lily.

You see, Lily's family was always pretty active until COVID hit. Then it seemed everything changed, and it made Lily really nervous.
I miss how things used to be. I feel nervous all the time.

For instance, before COVID happened, Lily and her family would play at the park, make healthy family meals and go on adventures such as hiking, swimming, and participate in sports. But then her parents started working from home, and Lily and her siblings had to distance learn, so everyone was too tired to cook big healthy meals and would order out more than usual. Then things got shut down, so they could no longer do sports, go swimming, and even some of our family's hiking spots got closed down. COVID really had made things difficult for everyone, and this made Lily sad.

I have a plan to help change this... This calls for a Family meeting!!
However, Lily had a plan; she would have a family meeting and tell her family how she feels and what she can do to help them get back on track to be healthier once again.

Staying Healthy at Home
1. Eating Healthier
2. Exercise & Hydration
3. Routine
4. Communication
5. Healthier Family Activities

Lily called her family together and told them how she felt. She also told them what ideas she had to help make their lives healthier as well as happier.

In fact, she shared five different ways to help them all stay healthier while staying socially distanced. The first one was; Eating Healthier!
No more take out, more home-cooked healthier meals done as a family. Lily even suggested having her and her siblings pick the meals three times a week.
In fact, according to HealthyChildren.org; Packing your child's lunch or going over the lunch menu and encouraging him or her to select healthier choices can help keep things on track." (2016, March 3).

The second healthy change Lily talked about was that her family needed to exercise more as well as keeping hydrated.
We can go on family walks with the dogs, keep hand sanitizer and masks with us just in case, even if it is just 30 minutes of exercise each day. Our bodies really need it, plus it will give us energy. It is also important to drink up to 8 glasses of water a day to stay hydrated.

The third healthy change Lily talked about was about maintaining a routine as a family. We need a better routine because it is important, especially for families with kids. It helps keeps us kids feeling safe, secure as well as giving us a better sense of stability.
Having a routine helps us as a family makes sure we get all our tasks done on time and help us kids learn responsibility.

The fourth healthy change Lily discussed with her family was about the importance of communication. Lily had noticed that many of her family members showed signs of feeling more anxious than usual with all of the uncertainty and change, yet they weren't talking about it.
Let's set aside time to discuss how we feel during these crazy times because I feel really nervous and need to talk about it.
