I wrote Moni's Way Home because monarch butterflies have always been meaningful to me. Their migration represents hope, perseverance, and the journey of finding where you belong. I wanted to create a story that children would enjoy while also sharing a deeper message about never giving up, even when life is difficult. In the story, Moni travels to many different places, meets both kind and unkind characters, and faces challenges before finally finding her family and the place where she truly belongs. While young readers will see it as an adventure about a butterfly, older readers may recognize the deeper message about resilience, family, and the meaning of home. I used ChatGPT to help brainstorm ideas and proofread my writing, and I used Gemini to generate the illustrations that brought Moni's journey to life.
