Carlos was so excited to learn all about Texas. He wanted to learn about why Texas was special, so he decided to take a trip. He packed up his bags and started on his adventure!

Every place that Carlos wanted to visit had different characteristics. He wanted to explore bodies of water, weather, and landforms.

The first place Carlos visited was a landform called the Great Plains. When he got there he saw lots of flat land and wavy grass that tickled him as he walked through it.

Next, he traveled to the Guadalupe Mountains. These mountains were very tall and did not look like the Great Plains at all.

Carlos saw a big river called the Rio Grande. This river flows between Texas and Mexico. It is an important body of water in Texas.

As Carlos continued to travel, he reached the Texas coast. He saw the Gulf of Mexico! The Gulf is another body of water right next to Texas. 

After stopping by the Rio Grande and the Gulf of Mexico, Carlos learned that bodies of water were an important resource. Plants, animals, and even people need water to live.

Along with bodies of water, Carlos explored many areas of Texas that had light brown soil. Carlos learned that soil helps plants to grow. This soil felt soft beneath his feet.
