INTRODUCTION
What is 'SUBSTANCE ABUSE' ?
- It is the harmful use of "psychoactive" substances or chemical, including alcohol and drugs.
- Substances that leads to depend that causing damage both of the body system and mind of a person.
- Substance abuse will create an addiction.
- Chemicals that contained in the drugs and related substances will alter the way of the brain's communication system works, disrupting the way nerve cells send, receive and process information.
- According to internet, Substance abuse is when you take illegal drugs. It also happens if you use alcohol, prescription drugs and other legal substances excessively or improperly.
A) WHAT HAVE I LEARNT IN THIS TOPIC
i) DEFINITON OF DRUG
- a medicine or other substance which has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body.
According to 'National Anti-Drug Agency' (NADA) definition
- Drug is define as any chemical substances either genuine or artificial , when be used by injected , inhaled , smoked or be eaten that can change the body function or organization physically or mentally.
- Drug is also used by the hospitals and clinics as a medicine to help their patient in battling disease such as loratadine, Paracetamol, Anti-Biotic and many more prescription drugs that are legal by the government but there are most of other people intend to abuse it or taking illegal drugs.
- Drugs can be classified into two, which is natural drug and synthetic drug.
ii) WHAT IS "NATURAL DRUG" ?
- A mixture of herbs containing drugs that have neurological effects such as controlled drugs that require a prescription.
- Marijuana and Psilocybin Mushrooms are one of example of natural illegal drugs.
- Marijuana is also legal in some other countries such as Amsterdam, Canada and Thailand for medical purposes. Example , marijuana cures patient with Parkinson's disease

iii) WHAT IS "SYNTHETIC DRUG" ?
- Synthetic drugs are created using man-made chemicals instead of natural ingredients.
- Ecstasy, LSD, methamphetamine, cocaine, ayahuasca, 2CB, molly ,"synthetic marijuana" (Spices or K2), "synthetic stimulants" (Bath Salts), Flakka (Zombie Drug) ,"N. bombs" and many more illegal synthetic drug. These are among the new n synthetic drugs known as "Designer drugs" in this modern world.
- Synthetic Drugs are more dangerous than natural drugs because they contain chemicals that will destroy our body system and also corrupt our brain.

V) HOW DRUGS AFFECT THE BRAIN ?
- Drugs interact with the brain and body to alter moods, emotions, and behaviors by changing brain chemistry and a person’s perceptions, and by impacting how individuals interact with the world around them.
- Levels of some of the brain’s chemical messengers, or neurotransmitters, are also impacted by drug abuse, including, Dopamine, Serotonin, Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), Norepinephrine and some part of the brain depend on the drugs that they abuse.
